As long as the processor used is of the "i" series, it'll use DDR3 RAM.Acer Aspire 4740G-432G50, Need opinion.

Hi. i m posting this comment with the acer aspire 4740g itself, the RM2499 model.
to b honest, the performance is so so only, especially with the given hardware specs 1) response time is slow, example there is minor freeze opening programs, u cant see instant click and appear situation 2) i5 means 4 cores? but burning the recovery disc make me almost impossible to surf nets with applets and java templates........, like youtube etc 3) too many junks program like the built in games and useless utilities actualy slow down the performance, while alot of the programs are trial only, it takes up unnesscary space too 4) hardware spec may seems tempting, like multitouch pointer, 720p webcam, dual layer dvd ram etc but it takes me almost 1hours ++ to fnish burning the 4 recovery discs.. the webcam resolution is just 640x320, while the pointer is not responsive like in macbook.. 5) for gaming i think it is a big NO since it takes so long just to startup simpleprograms like browsers, even microsoft office will write more when i get to use and explore more with it By the way to those who are interested in this try to get from HARVEY NORMAN i think they are givin the best deal in town so far free laptop lock free keyboard protector free usb mouse free lcd cleaning clothe free 4gb pendrive free 3 fans laptop cooler free rm40 bakers cottage voucher as far as i know senQ oni giv 4gb pendrive and a very small amount of cash rebate.............. according to da staff, da reason ive been quoted for rm2.2 after discount - the laptop i bought is confirmed 100% original Acer, and for those who got it cheaper cud be a K.P (K.Point) set, similar to AP set for handphone. well..well..is that true? |

yes it is embedded with a biometric scanner. infact all acer laptop lines come with 1.... but the software for the authentication is very buggy, sometimes ppl cant get to login when fingers are oily......
and it is not so secure after all........................ u may even lose ur finger if ppl want it so badly haha |

There will always be minor freeze. 2) i5 is not quad cores but dual cores with Hyperthreading. Burning speed depends on a few factors like the speed supported by your disc and the software you using to burn, and of course the writer. 3) You have the option to uninstall them. 4) Try to think how much you paid for this and how much it would cost to get the responsive Mac. Orange is definitely no as sweet as apple. 5) No comment as not yet try on it. This post has been edited by chweitan: Feb 4 2010, 12:48 PM |

sadly but to say, it does not make economic sense if laptop comes into AP..
remember, laptop has far higher problems than a handphone, and it is not something anyone can anyhow learn to fix. manufacturer warranty is pretty much a must to consider when purchasing a laptop plus, laptop would store far more important and sensitive data than handphone...you do want it in a good hand when it comes to repairing and fixing.... |

Read up your specifications. Its not a dedicated video card.![]() using vista now because win7 got tearing when playing youtube video fullscreen.. should be win7 GMA driver problem. vista gives me 3hr+ running on power saver mode (web surfing with wifi only, cpu-z shows core speed between 1.1 to 1.3ghz) |

QUOTE(Alizmonster @ Feb 4 2010, 06:00 PM) I doubt the GeForce 310M can take it , its a pretty weak card. Its a rebranded 210M , aka 105M aka 8400M GS even the CPU is capable. You can play the games (newer ones) at lower resolution and such |

Read up on Nvidias specifications. show me the numbers instead. Turbo cache is a crap , anyway. High end video cards dont have Turbo Cache. Its in the same family as the rest , you can google it up on Geforce 310 and geforce 210 , it shares the same number of pixel shaders and such ans its just that its a bit faster. but again its still a weak card. Even a 9600GT can out perform this |
