Added on January 26, 2010, 8:02 amAnd 1 question, there is 1 saleman say that this batch acer laptop with i5 proc got problems, something like fsb got problem, cannot run windows 7 (even run window xp also cannot), some pc games & apps compatible issues lar, and ask me to get an older version lappy with higher price which is 4736g, any pro can guide me?

How in the world that it cannot run Win 7..well, i5 is quite new so maybe got some bugs but in the future for sure this will be solve later on ...Acer 4736G is way old la, better this model instead ...

that guy told me the i5 proc fsb got problem and just 133mhz not 1066, and he show me 1 model with xp os cannot start up, he advice me not to buy this, if not I sure regret. I just weird why intel promote I series proc so much and he say not good?

easy, why would wan to keep 4735 himself? Better sell it off, then only start selling 4740

Well, all know that 1066Mhz FSB just a level bar...even a 667Mhz is more than enough lor...1 model cannot start with Win XP, did he do the installation right in front of you?? Or he just showed one with XP that cannot boot-up ...what error??

Hi everyone. In my previous review, i said this laptop does NOT come with Bluray, LightScribe, HD Webcam and USB 3. Also, i just found out, this laptop also does NOT come with S-Video output and Firewire port (IEEE 1394). However, just like I said previously, not many people use these features anyway.

For those asking about PhysX, NVidia 310M supports PhysX but in default install, it is disabled. You can enable it in Nvidia Control Panel. Also, there are no official Notebook drivers for Nvidia 300M series on Nvidia's site as of yet. You may try Nvidia 200M Series drivers, but i have not.

For installing Windows XP, Acer do not provide WIndows XP drivers. Although the model description is not available on Acer.com.my, if you go under Supports and Downloads, this model is available, but no Windows XP Drivers. However, since this laptop uses common hardware such as Realtek Audio, Nvidia GPU, etc, i believe you can find WIndows XP drivers for it, either directly from the component manufacturers' website or download it from Acer from a laptop which uses the same hardware (4736 maybe).

I need to use Windows XP, so i will TRY to install it soon. (For those who wants to this, please make recovery DVD first). Anyway, anyone has experience with Windows XP on it, please share. (less trouble for me figuring it out!). Also regarding the salesman saying you cant install Windows XP, i think it is not true. Maybe the salesman is using a WinXP CD with no SATA AHCI drivers on it. Since SATA AHCI was not available when WinXP was released, you cannot use the CD, except by having a floppy with the drivers (Intel AHCI Drivers - www.intel.com) or slipstreaming the drivers on to the CD using nLite etc.

I think Core i5 is a really good product, and its hard to believe that people are saying it is unstable and got problems etc.

Mind sharing why u would wan to switch back to XP?

Win 7 Pro/Ultimate got XPM (XP Mode)...why dun you use it instead of changing directly to XP

that guy just show the model in front of me keep restarting and cannot boot win xp, and I ask him to try win 7 for me because I got sikit no believe what he said, and he tell me to wait 30 minutes he will show me, of course I no wait him lar. He keep saying the i5 fsb got problem so cause the error, actually I don't know what fsb for, who x know higher is better

This 4740g lcd only HD 720p.. u planning on running it through HDMI to a LCD TV?
I dont think the RAM would count for Full HD HD playback.. since i do play movies via HDMI to a LCD TV.. What matters is the processor and gpu.. 2GB RAM shud shud be sufficient.

Anyway a stick of 2GB DDR3 cost about RM17X-18X..
