I think it needs 8pin ATX + 4 pin ATX
And when running multi GPU, both molex have to be connected.

looks like a power sucking board

i dun think its a power sucking board.. the power draw will be on par with other x58 board with nf200

the added power connectors its for more stability, esp during OC

power does not need to travel from the 24pin to the pcie slots.. now the power needs to travel much more shorter distance..

I believe the reason why Asus opted for simpler heatsink for the mobo is; most owners will take them off anyways, and replace them with full cover water block for mobo

Recently saw two ROG motherboards including this one, noticed the sound card is build in. Not understand why they want to have this design.

Most of the people would rather take the heatsink off and install their own heatsink.

This motherboard is nice. Unfortunately, I am going to pass this round too. Probably next chipset.

Remember when Asus just started the Commando? I'm so excited for the Rampage Extreme. Who wouldn't be with riotous and extreme in its name? It's also a good investment for those who prefer high-end CPU coolers because of its cooling solutions. Not to mention, its layout is definitely easy on the eyes but definitely not on the bank account. I heard it retails around $400. What do you think? Is it really worth every single penny? Thoughts?

The Rampage II isn't suck but just other brand's motherboard did deliver better performance and features.

R2E sucks no doubt. but that doesn't mean R3E sucks

ya... mayb asus engineers fixed the problems and improve performances in r3e...

For those who're questioning about 4-Way SLI, as long as the board can support up to 4 cards @ 8x PCI-E, it'll be able to support 4-way SLI with GTX400 series. But you'll still need the 4-way SLI dongle (is it provided?). I don't think it needs any BIOS update to support 4-way.

But 4-way is always pointless unless you have the money to burn.

lol this MB got plenty of problem from the review.

Normally the 1st batch quite familiar with problematic issue. That's the trend for most of the complicated board i can see today..

i'm using this mobo.. ..so far, i haven't discover any problems when oc'in and tweaking with this board, i've run it at 4.2g's witout any BSOD or what so ever, ..i've been using this DFI DK x58 before this, and i always facing with instability when oc'ing with this DFI"s DK.. ..

what i think that, this board is really awesome and friendly because it's bios is really easy to understand without you have to read the manual ..i would rate this board 9/10, and of course, if you would compare with EVGA Classy x58, R3E doesn't make so much difference from the Classy.. ..

and yet, r3e now support the 4-way SLI, as ASUS just launch it's XPander..

Since that board sits atop the mainboard, how to mount the graphic cards properly in the casing (since the graphic cards will be slightly above the slot mounting plates)?

then back of casing slot for GC must be potong a.k.a expand the width...
but if it didn't block any hdmi,dvi...etc slot then just use it normally..just a little xtra adjustment whether left,right,up,down (depends on casing orientation of GC )

huhuhu yup mobo now become more complicated eith xtra gadget...

maybe using plates of extended screw holes (personally i think it will work) and some extra width modding, but for extra large casing only

at first, i'm using cm690 too.. , but for getting r3e, is not enough space tho.. ..although, on the spec sheet is says ATX, but it's actually bigger than ATX measurement...i would say CM690 didn't fit this mobo, the mobo will eventually hit the DVD/Drive bay...
