QUOTE(philipcs @ Sep 6 2010, 09:37 AM) Is it possible Apple asked Maxis and Digi to delay until 1 Oct in order to help Apple to save big bucks for free case? Actually if Apple is making some revisions on the 'paint', it would have been done by now. I think its more like carrier testing that is taking the time. The phone is probably in the hands of Maxis device team by now. Probably doing some regression testing. Then the stockpiling and pending Apple to 'bless' the launch dates hehehe...

QUOTE(AlexGTX @ Sep 6 2010, 10:46 AM) ip4 is made by glass tho! Still the internal chassis is some kind of plastic. Hehehehe... Truth is if we want it cheap, we can't run away from plastics. Even more if we want it thin and light. By the way, plastic can be durable and high end too.

QUOTE(ImSIEBEL @ Sep 6 2010, 11:37 AM) hah! just got info that iphone 4 price from maxis is estimated to be pricing around the current 3GS, and 3GS will drop to 3G price.. not sure can trust, but source is from one of the operating managers at maxis Thats usually the trend. RRP will stick at RM2490 but so carrier subsidization will remain. Hence pricing plans will most likely remain the same as well. I just hope they can revise the data caps to give it more value.

QUOTE(jphlau @ Sep 8 2010, 10:10 AM) no, it was discontinued... with the exception of 3g 8bg Yup, there will be 8GB versions of the previous generation (3GS) going to a lower price point while the new iPhone 4 (16/32) will take their predecessor's price points. In other words, the price won't change. But you can get previous generation features cheaper but at a small dip in storage capacity. Good if consumer wants a basic plain vanilla.

I think it will take until next month to get it onto our hands. Assuming we didn't catch the very very first wave which could be very limited.

QUOTE(gurus @ Sep 13 2010, 11:12 AM) ya i dont see any cheaper for the iphones from digi even they have reduced the plan rates. plan rates = jatuh phone price = naik Thats how they play the cards. It does have a difference from finance perspective especially from the consumer side. See phone price is one time payment and if a consumer is excited to get the phone, the consumer will unlikely feel the pinch. Servicing the plan on the other hand is a different matter since money has to be paid throughout the contract. So yes, it makes no difference when you calculate the overalls but from cash flow side there's positive change. Even though its the same thing.

QUOTE(dannywonglh @ Sep 13 2010, 02:06 PM) Some more there are reports saying that Foxconn has spent 20 millions to buy the machines that only produce the iPhone 4 antenna, do you think Apple can ditch the hardware design just like that? I think not only they won't redesign the iPhone 4, probably iPhone 5 will use the same design as well, just like 3G and 3GS... Those Fanuc machines can do a lot of things. They can be re-tooled and reprogrammed to handle different products. It goes to show what kind of iPhones it will be manufacturing in the future. Now, iPhone 4 industrial design won't change for sure. Its too late since it has been committed. The antenna design won't change either. What can be changed are the superficials like coating along the metal frame. Apple is stuck with the current configuration (at least with the antenna) until next year.

QUOTE(dannywonglh @ Sep 13 2010, 03:02 PM) In Taiwan, the telco start taking pre-orders and they wouldn't know when will Apple supply the iPhone, but at least they inform their customers upfront about this, not like Maxis, keep on telling us Coming Soon... [attachmentid=1778223] Clearly consumerism is not good in our side of the world hehehehe

QUOTE(yeehau86 @ Sep 13 2010, 04:19 PM) Actually not bad already, we registered our emails at their site and they got send emails regarding Ipod Touch Thats probably free information for them already! They could re-use those information for their other marketing/promotions. In other countries, its already qualified for a public complaint.

QUOTE(jehutyz @ Sep 13 2010, 05:31 PM) Launch should be end of this month. But is the stock enough or not that another issue. Maybe need to wait 1-3 weeks after that. Price... well my another point of view. Phone price should be the same as 3GS (suppose to be cheaper due to currency exchange). What telco can fight and to make customer to sign up is the package. Yeah I guess to be in the first wave itself, we need to pre-order the first instance things show up. Word of advice from the general public is to wait out for both telcos to reveal their price plans in order to get the best deals. Regarding the currency exchange, it will not affect the retail price if at all. Currency exchange is pretty volatile and any profits as a result of it is considered their margins. We pay the same price not matter what is the exchange. The same way goes if currency exchange worsens (not siding the telcos), then at least we pay the locked down price.

I received emails from Maxis about a guide for operating iPhone 4 features as well as the backing up features. This is a little too soon, no phone yet! In its message, it did say that it will be here any day now. Perhaps something good for this week or the next.

I guess this is something like the Galaxy S launch. Available immediately for contracts first. Guess it should start on some Friday and towards the weekend.
