Thanks slickz. Details: I registered with a maxis number which is not under my name and used my IC number; selected register new number (which I plan to anyway) and it worked!Then this time, you pump in your same IC.

Just got the confirmation SMS and email.
NOTE: I did NOT receive the email from Maxis containing the link for the booking even though I registered my interest. I just got the link off this thread before the mods took it down. In lieu of this, I think the mods should allow the link to stay up for people like me; registered interest but didnt get mail..
