the delay in malaysia could be because maxis and digi (possibly also celcom) disagree with apple's plan to sell no contract iphone through the online store which apple prefer to do due to higher profit margin. While the telcos here prefer to tie customers down to 1-2yrs contract to raise their profit margin.

how are the Telcos in a disadvantage position? Maxis also sells non-contracted iPhones through its centers under the name of the hotlink plan which gives users 500MB data for 12 months, if apple online store had the iphones for sale they couldnt possibly offer that and you'd havto source and find the best telco with best data plan, plus i can vouch that the telcos's has no say of what apple could do with the iphone, as always apple is the more strong and vocal partner, just take a look at Singapore, i see no issues there. People would generally stick to the plans because at the end of the day you cant lump the calls and data together with the iphone as its final price because irregardless of whether its an iphone or a sony ericcson you'd still be calling, surfing and messaging people. Again the delay could be due to Agency approval(Sirim, government agencies) and the fact Malaysia is a second tier market to apple, Singapore is first, now you see the big picture?

Yup, there will be 8GB versions of the previous generation (3GS) going to a lower price point while the new iPhone 4 (16/32) will take their predecessor's price points. In other words, the price won't change. But you can get previous generation features cheaper but at a small dip in storage capacity. Good if consumer wants a basic plain vanilla.

i had a 2 year contract with maxis for my iphone 3g and it hasn't expired yet. will i be able to move my contract to the iphone 4 or do i still have to finish the contract before getting an iphone 4?

u shud be readin ur contract agreement instead of askin us lar.. rightfully u have to finish ur contract but mayb maxis will give u early present by lettin u buy the iphone4 n extend ur contract. depends on maxis.
