Hi people, was wondering if any of you more ‘experienced’ users can gimme some advice on building a new cpu.

I’ll mainly use it for gaming and if possible I would like it to be able to handle crysis 2 later on, and of coruse other games 2 to 3 years from now. I am not planning to overclock and my budget is 2800 to 3000 ringgit. I only want a cpu , ive got the other peripherals and monitor I’ll find later.

I would like it to be able to:

1) Play high end games at best quality without compromise
2) Be kept on for a few days or a week without problems.
3) Always cool ( if heatsinks are necessary please recommend which) 
4) Fast for multitasking- no lagging either for burning or web browsing or some video editing using sony vegas ( not for work, just a hobby)
5) Sturdy – as it will be used by many friends also.
6) Good for watching high quality videos and movies. ( ot so important)
7) I don’t mind if the cpu is nosiy, as long as it is very cool ( can be fitted with more fans) , is big, and is aesthetically pleasing ( very important! rclxm9.gif ) .

Id really appreciate it if any of you can suggest a solid system for me and I hope I can ask questions based on your recommendations too….

If you are attempting to CrossFireX/SLI, take the MSI P55-GD65. I wouldn't recommend the Intel and the rest will cripple your CrossFireX setup due to their second PCIe slot being locked in x4 mode.

Oh, and +1 to Racerx's build. Though if you cannot locate the Xigmatek, the I'd suggest the SilverStone ST50F instead. It costs RM20 more, but will get the job done equally well, if not better

Try..

Intel Core i5 750 = 684 (from Viewnet)
GigaByte GA-P55-US3L = 389 (from Viewnet)
4GB Kingmax DDR3-1333 (2 x 2GB) = 310 (from PC Zone)
PowerColor HD5850 1GB GDDR5 = 950 (from PC Zone)
Lite-On 24x SATA DVDRW = 79 (from Viewnet)
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA HDD = 159 (from Viewnet)
Silverstone Strider ST50F 500W PSU = 240 (from Prestige IT)
CoolerMaster Elite 330 ATX casing = 125 (from Startec)

Total: RM 2936

Basically this a good build, though choice of casing is up to you (have some room left).. nod.gif

Lots of motherboards to choose from at that price range.. ASUS P7P55D, ASUS P7P55D-LE, GigaByte GA-P55-UD3P, ASRock P55DE3, ECS P55H-A Black, MSI P55-GD65, etc.. hmm.gif

The difference is that MSI P55-GD65 supports both CrossFireX and SLI, using PCIe x8+x8 lanes. The ASUS P7P55D-LE supports CrossFireX only, using PCIe x16+x4 lanes. smile.gif If you want to use the MSI board, then the total will be a bit over RM3000 (guesstimate around RM5 to RM61 more) icon_rolleyes.gif
