the usual desktop pulse oximeter is expensive at over 2K, but if u run a check on the ebay for the fingertip version of pulse oximeter, its actually quite affordable at less than RM200. Of course the fingertip version is not for long term monitoring, but rather ad hoc spO2 monitoring with certain models actually able to provide continous monitoring for over 30 hrs on alkaline battery.

This device i believe should prove to be useful to ppl with copd / asthma etc..

what i meant was monitoring for SP02  is under what purpose and
confident in interpreting means know what the values indicative of otherwise just seeing numbers wont help much

If u read my first post, i explained that the fingertip pulse oximeter is for COPD patient monitoring.

As for interpreting the results , it would depend on some research, doctor consulation and obviously a device to monitor the readings in the first place. Without the device, obviously one cannot possibly know the SPO2 level. No one is born with knowledge, its a matter of whether u want to pursue it or not. Being proactive in understanding one's health is better than sit and pray for the best.

As for ur comment on the instance of cough, temporary spike in readings would NOT be of concern as long as it returns to normal, but prolong low level would require further investigation / seeking medical help especially if other symptoms of oxigen deficiency is exhibited.
