How to convert and burn to play in panny bd60, Mkv to avchd

Guys i have panny BD60 and i got a lot of mkv 720p movie files. What do i do to be able to play to files in my BD60? Do i need to convert it to AVCHD and then burn in dvd to play it in BD60? Please advise
