see my siggy for my rig spec.. smile.gif
i've overclock cpu from 266 to 276 bus speed which i assume minor increase..and the vcore is at 1.28750..this is based on gigabyte easy tuner software-using it to oc..
however, there were some small glitch while i was playing grid..what's wrong?..vcore?..bus speed?..psu?..plz guide me..if can, i wanna oc my rig to 3.0GHz-that's my target.. flex.gif

Added on January 9, 2010, 10:33 amwhen i set 276 to 283, the glitch now bcome more clear..more obvious..

from E7400.. using manual OC.. can pump to 300x10.5 without increase Vcore.. unless yr mobo is not so good in OC..

with 1.2875 Vcore, u can pump yr FSB to around 333 or more ady..

wat glitches r u facing anyway?

E7XXX OC thread
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=713146

Added on January 9, 2010, 10:38 amoh ya.. r u using stock cooler? 1.2875Vcore will produce quite an amount of heat.. mayb tat's y u have glitches..

if yr target is 3.0.. use manual OC.. try 300x10.. then FSB:DRAM can set 3:4 if u r using 800Mhz rams.. Vcore i think no need change, should be stable, if not stable, pump a little bit will do..
*
while racing..there were a freeze frame for 0.3second..especially if involving smoke(more thing to render)..then after a couple seconds..it happens again..

even it's stock cooler, i still manage to maintain the heat(around 52C under load)..

--update:..this is new symptom..i oc using gigabyte supplied tools-the easy tuner which is i encounter the glitch..
then i decided to manually configure bus speed at bios..so i went there and set bus speed to 276..turns out, it now cannot boot at all..post screen->blank->restart..it loop that way..so i turn off computer for 1 min and turn it back on..now it's working fine bcoz the bios is reset to default setting..now my bus speed is 266 and multiplier at 10.5..any guide?..

is this some sort of mobo prob?..not enuf psu?..wrong way to oc?.. icon_question.gif

What psu you're using ? True power ?

Take a look at the E7xxx OC Thread and learn how to OC, it seems that you have rather limited knowledge in OC. So my suggestion is to read and learn from basic.

While ocing take note on the temperatures, voltages and ram timing.

my psu is powerlogic i got with my casing..it state that..450W = MAX/PEAK power and 230W = PURE/REAL power

yeah, im still beginner in this oc thing but i do read many articles bout ociing..already monitor temp and all..
oso..like farscope said and article i've read..i still can gain that much of GHz while maintaining my vcore..

++already turn off eist, c1e, c2e to make cpu run at full speed contantly--for oc procedure..

you can stop overclock now until u change your psu
psu underpower causing gc unable to function properly, it does not healthy to your system in long term

owh ic..so what wattage shud i get?..oso i confuse with term true and the other one..aiyark..oredi forgot..cheh

Added on January 9, 2010, 8:01 pmbtw..why system cannot boot if i change speed at bios but system works fine if i alter bus speed via gigabyte et?..weird?..any explaination?

well, yr PSU need to be changed.. 230W is really.. cutting throat ady.. but before tat, u can try some other settings 1st..

wat's yr ram? after u change FSB, did u check on the FSB:DRAM divider? if u din, mayb the few MHZ extra in ram causes it unable to boot to POST..
*
yep..my ram is kigston ddr2 400MHz..oso the divider at 2:3..no problem right?

PSU is not something to be taken lightly with.
A little story:
A month ago I help my cousin OC his GC and CPU and ran stress tests such as Furmark and LinX.
The PC suddenly shuts down.
After further inspection, I see the mobo standby lights are ON, but failed to power up.
So I initially concluded that its the mobo which died out. But the day after I felt a bit rajin and "jump start" the PC using my PSU and magically it's alive!!

So my point is that my cousin's PSU has a similar 'real power' as yours and with similar rig setup as well AND it proved to be unrecommended especially when doing some overclocking.

The glitches possibly caused by instability of PSU in supplying power to your 9800GT, probably the capacitors in the PSU already succumbed to damage after you OC'ed...

Bro, to speculate if the whole system is stable or not, you have to run a 'STRESS TEST'.  nod.gif
This will tell if your system is unstable even without OC'ing. (ask the sifus about this)

At this point, more data is needed bro, please keep on posting.
As for the moment see if the glitches are still available without any kind of OC'ing. This is a very crucial data to figure out what is the problem...

hurm..quite clear there nod.gif ..started to think my psu is the main prob..however..it's still confusing me why it's ok when i oced using gigabyte et and not ok if using bios?.. shakehead.gif ..will, run stress test after this(oc using et n stress using prime95)..

stay tune folks.. icon_rolleyes.gif
