yea there's no replacement for C2D.
C2D is still mainstream product of Intel Technologies.
However there's another new mainstream product which on the market we called i5 in mid-end specification.
Nowadays Intel was on the path spreading i5 among the markets and able to distribute out better processor and less power consumption processor, core i5 with reasonable and affordable price.
Meanwhile, fellows will follow the trend and the strategy applied from Intel Technologies.

Intel Core 2 Duo will not be replaced.
Instead of you writing C2D will be replaced, I would kindly and strongly recommended and advise you to speak in this way:
Intel Core i5 is going to take down the mainstream market now.
In final words,
Product won't be replaced,
unless Market.

Well speech, so now you guys understand what is the meaning of "market" and "product" now.

The wrong information given by the forum or public will just mislead other to the wrong direction.

seems like many brands already started to change to the iCore series already.... Toshiba also have a few in the lineup

Yeah, but then the problem is the price tag.

Acer seems very cheap in all terms, I'm just worry about the reliability and durability. I'm going to get either this one or another 4740G in the mid of February.

Some say Acer always have hardware failure, especially hard disk and optical drive. Some say they are regret paying extra money for extra warranty because of never use it.

So, which side should I trust. But I have to say, buying any electronic hardware or even car in our life is all are depend on your luck.

go to EVERNEW shop in lowyat also got, pyramid also got..
i got it at rm2980 with freebies and add rm188 for extend warranty by 2 years..

I got offer by paying RM240 for another 4 or 5 years warranty cover, but it's not fully 100% cover.

Which means, example below:

1st year - 100% Full warranty cover by Acer itself
2nd year - Probably cover up to 90%, you have to pay for the 10%. Let's say a part broken down and cost RM1,000 to repair, you will need to pay RM100.
3rd year - Probably cover up to 60%.
4th year - Probably cover up to 40%
5th year - Probably cover up to 20%

So may I know how is your warranty condition for 2 years coverage?

nVidia 260M is consider as gaming range graphic, as you can see in nVidia website.

This is an useful table for nVidia notebook graphic reference, have a look: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_m_series.html

i paid 188 for 2 years extra warranty..
the seller said if any problem the shop will bear the cost to repair it..
1st year by acer..
then extra 2 years for rm188 by the shop..

RM188 is a good deal if they are really cover 100% of warranty and repair.

Just got myself this baby today. biggrin.gif

Really happy with the performance, and the screen color is just nice, some kind of light blue-ish, looks fresh.

What I like about this laptop is the numpad on the keyboard. If I'm not mistaken, seldom laptop come with numpad together with the keyboard.

which make us hard to buy a keypad protector haha

That's why, but I won't put keyboard protector on my own laptop. I will just go and buy a kind of sticky product that comes from Apple, it can helps you to clean out the dust inside the keyboard.

Before you buy this laptop, you should know that the graphic will not give you full pleasure in gaming like having high FPS in game or support high end game. Bear in mind, 5470 is a entry or low end card. If you would like to have good gaming performance like I said above, get 5650 above, 5770 would be better. If there's 5800 series, then it will be even better.

There goes the same with GeForce series, you should do research more before you buy. Like now I'm having this laptop, compare to my desktop I use 1280x1024 with 75Hz screen refresh rate on my Call of Duty 4, I have 125FPS all the time in the multiplayer game, the graphic card is GeForce 8800GT, is consider as high end card in GeForce 8000 series, of course there are other high end card such as 8800 Ultra or 8800GTX. While for my laptop, although 5470 has new technology and it's the latest card, I only able to get 125FPS at all time in 640x480 resolution.

So, think about it. Do not expect good gaming experience on this laptop, this is just a bargain for those who need a high performance laptop and just so-so in gaming.

Yeah right, at least get to know what graphic card is mid end or high end performance. Of course high end is better and it will cost at higher price.
