Went to
TC Eurocar showroom yesterday with the intent to test drive the
RS250. Was a bit disappointed when we walked in because we didn't see any test units lurking around in the basement. All they seemed to have was this stunning unit in the showroom..

Everything about this machine looks good. Ok, if I had to make one visual qualm, it would be that black bit on the bumper. A tad bit too shiny for my liking. But then, I'm just being super picky. We spoke for a few minutes to the salesperson, and told him it was a pity there wasn't any test units available. Only for him to lead us down the stairs into the basement where this was greeting us...

My mate took it out first. I didn't want to because I hadn't driven a stick shift in at least 5 years. Every gear change brought oodles and oodles of torque, and made me smile... but secretly, in the back of my head... I had doubts if I could actually drive this machine. So many
what-ifs, I didn't want to make any mistakes... but take the car out, I did. And it literally made my weekend.

At this point, I must admit. I stalled once at the lights, and made the mistake of swapping from 1st gear up to 4th. But the
RS250 has so much torque, it just plodded on ahead. Steering feel was crisp, tight, and very accurate. It felt composed, and wasn't rattly over surface imperfections. 250hp and 340Nm makes a very hot hatch indeed. There was a short drag race against a mk6 Golf GTI, and it felt really good blasting on ahead. The only problem I had was... my slippers. Every time I made a gear change, my slippers seemed to get stuck at the clutch. *Note to self: next time, wear shoes*
Compared to the
Scirocco 2.0TSI, the RS250 was much tauter, and composed. This is probably due to the Cup Chassis. Admittedly, this isn't exactly a fair comparison as the RS250s equal would be a
Scirocco R, but no such unit yet exists in Malaysia...
The overall experience I had was fantastic (and has put the Golf 1.4 TSI that little bit further behind in my mind). Now if only money grew on trees...
