hi all, my gf got me a canon G10 a couple of months ago for my birthday (as i'd only every buy shoes...) so i recently decided to try to utilize the camera properly. playing about with the idea of getting a dslr, but i want to be able to take good pictures before i jump onto that ship.

i've only been at this for the last couple of weeks, so i'd appreciate any constructive feedback/comments.

as it is, i cannot seem to "see" a good picture, and need a lot of help there. hope that makes sense...

anyway. here are some shots of mine:

thanks for the kind words, lads. that shot at 183kmph was not an easy shot; it took me many attempts before i was able to get that. thankfully, it was a late night and i had a very empty stretch of road ahead.

ur shots are all at night, the black sky is pretty meaningless. why dont u try shooting like right after sunset? the bridge/building lights would be on, n there are still some colour in the skies

yeah; second shot was taken without tripod, so ended up a little blur.

here's my attempt at a panoramic shot. didn't turn out quite the way i wanted it.. the choppy waves made the photos very hard to stitch up...

I think that if you use smaller aperture size for scenery photo shooting would be much nicer...

@KXMALL.COM: for pic #8, i set my camera to 2sec shutter speed with flash on 1st curtain and timer on. waited for the countdown and just as the camera flashed, i jumped into frame. for #9, it is just a longer shutter speed with resulting light trails biggrin.gif

Went to TC Eurocar showroom yesterday with the intent to test drive the RS250. Was a bit disappointed when we walked in because we didn't see any test units lurking around in the basement. All they seemed to have was this stunning unit in the showroom..
user posted image

Everything about this machine looks good. Ok, if I had to make one visual qualm, it would be that black bit on the bumper. A tad bit too shiny for my liking. But then, I'm just being super picky. We spoke for a few minutes to the salesperson, and told him it was a pity there wasn't any test units available. Only for him to lead us down the stairs into the basement where this was greeting us...
user posted image

My mate took it out first. I didn't want to because I hadn't driven a stick shift in at least 5 years. Every gear change brought oodles and oodles of torque, and made me smile... but secretly, in the back of my head... I had doubts if I could actually drive this machine. So many what-ifs, I didn't want to make any mistakes... but take the car out, I did. And it literally made my weekend.
user posted image

At this point, I must admit. I stalled once at the lights, and made the mistake of swapping from 1st gear up to 4th. But the RS250 has so much torque, it just plodded on ahead. Steering feel was crisp, tight, and very accurate. It felt composed, and wasn't rattly over surface imperfections. 250hp and 340Nm makes a very hot hatch indeed. There was a short drag race against a mk6 Golf GTI, and it felt really good blasting on ahead. The only problem I had was... my slippers. Every time I made a gear change, my slippers seemed to get stuck at the clutch. *Note to self: next time, wear shoes*

Compared to the Scirocco 2.0TSI, the RS250 was much tauter, and composed. This is probably due to the Cup Chassis. Admittedly, this isn't exactly a fair comparison as the RS250s equal would be a Scirocco R, but no such unit yet exists in Malaysia...

The overall experience I had was fantastic (and has put the Golf 1.4 TSI that little bit further behind in my mind). Now if only money grew on trees...

Thank you, sir... the price for this Megane is ~RM230k; and is much better value than the 2.0TSI Scirocco.

Residuals are another story altogether, of course... smile.gif

Yes, the number of well-heeled individuals in Malaysia is most certainly an extensive list. The value of sheet-metal present that day was valued at (close to, if not more) RM30mil.

Finally got my grubby paws on the wheels of the mk6 GOlf GTI. I've been meaning to have a go in this car, even before I took the RS250 Megane for a spin, so when everything fell into place, I was quite excited.
user posted image

The GTI is a whole different machine that the RS250 is; less raw and more mechanical, it lacked the excitement and thrust of the RS250. That's not to say however, that the GTI is slow. The time it took me to go from 100km/h to 190km/h surprised me; I did not feel the speed at all, and yet there I was going pretty fast in that small little thing!
user posted image

All in, I would have personally taken the GTI over the RS250; sure, it is less exciting... but at the same time, I think I would fare much better in a machine that is more forgiving smile.gif

@r3: Nice pictures of the GTI man, it's a great machine. I've driven it on numerous occasions, and it has never failed to leave a lasting impression. The pull when the turbo kicks in is just absolutely addictive, and the 'pops' from the exhaust when you shift thru DSG box' is an altogether different addiction.

However, I feel that the RS250 is just a much more hardcore and mean car. Shifting through the 6 spd manual box' is much more involving and the mechanical grip the car has thru the bends, definitely impresses even the most relaxed of drivers. But its definitely not as forgiving as the GTI is. It feel as though, when you eventually run out of grip, you are going to have it bad, unlike the GTI which makes you feel safe at the limit.

Both great cars dude. Any pictures of the RS250?

@zftrans: Yes, I took some pics of the RS250 here smile.gif I completely agree with you that the RS250 is more aggressive - I literally had a smile on my face everytime I changed gears! I also made the mistake of shifting from first to fourth (!!) and the RS250 just swept my mistake aside in it's stride. Crazy impressive...

The GTI on the other hand is a very well oiled machine; less emotions involved, more autonomous, and as a result, that little bit more perfect when viewed in the context as a machine/tool. The shifts between the gears were seamless and if I hadn't kept my eye on the speedo, I would not have known I'd hit 190km/h; especially not when the road I was on was merely a short straight.

Both are fantastic machines, and whilst the heart says the RS250, the mind knows I can only live with the GTI.

Sad thing then, that the wallet says I cannot have either shakehead.gif

From pictures, it is hard to imagine how intimidating this monster is. Ultra wide, mega low.... zero rear visibility. I cannot even imagine driving this monster machine. Like the Enzo, the MC12 has single bolt magnesiums; a good sign that this has crossed the supercar border and moved deep into hypercar realms...

Looking at this thing is an assault of visual lines - horizontal, vertical, squares, curves, concaves, circles...

Had the opportunity to take some pictures with a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 on Friday 13th, last week. Whoever said Friday the 13th was bad luck? The coffee machine in my office was returned from repairs, the weather was brilliant without a drop of rain.... and I was given the chance to take the baby Lambo for a drive from Putrajaya via the MEX highway to Bukit Damansara area.

Best Friday 13th ever!!

Second half from the LP560 shoot; unfortunately, the lighting was dimmer than I expected. Coupled with the fact that I'd forgotten to bring my tripod along, the pictures didn't turn out very well at all. Am trying to arrange for a second shoot; this time in the day. Here's to hoping I can work something out!

Wow, thanks for the kind comments. Really appreciate it.

In the mean time, for those who are interested, I've moved all my pictures to my new site: www.mthrfknwin.com

Any constructive feedback and/or comments appreciated :-)
