Well, maybe you can start by trying to play a cheap electronic keyboard first. At least you try out how well you do with both hands and maybe learn some musical notes as well (i dunno whether western musical notes applies to Gu Zheng though...) I used to have a friend who can play GuZheng...we called her "Tung Fong Putt Pai" (The character played by Brigitte Lin in quite a lot of those kungfu movies in late 80's or early 90's....LOL).
