just trying to see if anyone still around.. i might be starting back guzheng soon, trying to decide to scout for a different teacher or find back my previous teacher. Can't make up my mind currently. And also still arranging my time around but I really feel it is time to pick it back up again before I totally forget everything. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

I wonder if I need to 'service' my guzheng a bit though. I kept it dust free all these while but I realise few of the strings have gone a little 'black'.. not very sure if it rust or not though. But honestly have not been touching it very often so.. hmm.

If you have discipline no need teacher. Set aside a time and be committed to practice. That is the way I feel since I have reached a stagnant point for some time now. Believe it or not I am still playing the same songs without much progress from the time I started posting to this thread. Maybe empire can give me some pointers on this.

Guzheng if you had kept dust free then there is no need for servicing. If you like you can take out all the strings and wipe the area under the movable bridge. After that restring them again. I do that every CNY eve as part of my routine spring cleaning.

Music is a universal language. It does not matter what language you speak. Only you may have problems understanding the teacher if he only can speak Chinese.

well guys, if you are interested in learning Er Hu, a friend of mine actually willing to teach as part time. He is currently pursuing his music studies in SEGi Subang Jaya and obtained his Grade 8 certification 2 years back. PM me if you are interested. Prefer to conduct the class in mandarin. TQ
