Empire, it is nice to hear from you after a long silence. I hear your band is going for this concert too. I cannot comment there as the thread is closed.

Cassie, unless you are indispensable that night you can go too. Just apply for leave or get someone to replace you. If you had to chair the meeting then I guess it is your misfortune.

Subang, thanks for giving us a peek preview into the program. I have problems with “bo who hair pun a sai”. Without fish, prawns will do. I think it should be the other way around. Prawns are more expensive than fish.

MPO is actually about nurturing local philharmonic orchestra. Given the typical white supremacy mentality, they started as an all white orchestra. They hired second graders from white nations for a 2 year contract. If these ang mo cannot groom a local to their level then they failed the contract. If they made it they received a bonus and go home. It took MPO awhile to start looking east. Now I see more Japanese and Koreans in the program. Incorporating Chinese instruments in the program is a big leap in their look east mentality. I guess China becoming a world super power had something to do with it. Conservatories in Beijing, Shanghai, and Xian regarded the guzheng as the main instrument.

Subang, you must encourage mei mei (as a Chinese family I am sure that is how your squad refer to your younger daughter). Hopefully she will be the star when MPO gives guzheng the center stage. I will be there in the crowd saying to guys beside me, “I know that girl”.

Subang,

You don’t need to find out about seating. Your post 99 had a phone number (2051 7007). It is the box office number. You can book your seats there. I advise those who want to go to book early to get good seats. You have 3 days to pay (if not paying by credit card) after making your booking. I manage to get a box seat

I don’t know hokkien. I also don’t think a ma is wrong. These old sayings had some logic to them. I been thinking perhaps hokkien had more preference for fish than prawn.

Cassie, I guess we will have to fill you in on the show.

Cassie,

I guess you have been there. It is my first time. I wonder if you can smuggle a wineskin in. I am sure Subang would consider this a viable option.

In Malaysian english, it is a tupperware. It is made of a strong vinyl inside to contain liquid. The outside is made of leather.

Added on April 13, 2010, 4:19 pmIt is usually used to carry wine. That is why it is called a wineskin. You can store water in it if you want. It is also easily conceal when you wear a jacket.

Cassie,

Only a nerd carries water in wineskins smile.gif Since it is easy to conceal, it is commonly use to carry intoxicating substance into a ball game (football, baseball) or concerts.

Subang,

Does that means you have spare box seats tickets? If I can get my classmates to go, I know you have some box seats tickets to spare.

Cassie,

I am wondering if cameras are allowed into MPO's concert. If they do then tell me what you want. I Know you play the violin and had considered learning the cello. Do you want footage of these performance?

Yes, you are right empire. This is my first time going to MPO. I did mention it in the previous post.

Cassie thanks for the information on the alertness of the ushers at MPO. By the way, are these ushers of bouncers' size?

no la.. dun worry.. these ushers are nice people.. they'll just warn you.. smile.gif smile.gif

but we as audience must be polite also la.. if not the possibilities of them turning into bouncers might happen.. haha..

no worries la.. A concert at MPO is really memorable and enjoyable. Those ushers isn't scary and they wouldn't just warn you for nothing. It's only when you breaks certain rules that might affect the other audience will they approach you. brows.gif

So far, my experience in the concert halls are perfect. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
