if your think you can live without internet and the internet your university provide you is enough to do assignments then no need though that's very limited, how about some entertainment, social stuff etc. ^^

I think you mean subscribing to a broadband package . I'm heading to Perth too, and I've been told that if you're without Internet...you're screwed (to boredom). But Internet seems rather expensive, like a prized commodity in aussie. Heck, my university-to-be used to charge students for using Internet inside the campus . If you're looking for adsl, naked dsl and tpg seems to be the popular ones.

for people coming to perth for studies, trust me get a ADSL2+ broadband plan.
I'm with 3 wireless broadband 2gb and seriously it's not enuf man.
Trust me you'll need the GB's ! Going to sign up with internode naked s t-shirt plan after finding a new house to stay : )

hmm....medicine. if i recalled reading one of the posts of a senior, you do not need to declare medicine. Just pack it into your checked in luggage and you should be alright.  I brought my vitamin C, protein powder and stuff to Australia in July,  they did not stop me so I guess it should be alright.  Maybe a senior here should verify this?

I'm packing into boxes.   I applied for GRADS and my mom bought 5kgs extra (before i found out about GRADS). She's also heading to aussie a few days after me so total i have....  45kgs?  lol...

i'm heading to perth for 3 days for my aunt's wedding then it's back to adelaide for me... check out my siggy..

GRADS is a student card by MAS. If you have it then you can get an extra 10kg for free.
