QUOTE(Josep86 @ Sep 14 2010, 10:42 PM) Hello guys, It's only a waste of money if you come here and only ever stick with Malaysian friends and not locals or continue eating instant noodles and not cook out of local produce and not bask yourself in their culture and activities - oh and speak english. I have a lot of friends who came here only to complete their studies after three years not knowing any locals or at least long lasting ones. Saying locals do not want to mix with us is a lame excuse too. why some people said studying in aus is just wasting of money? is it true? it makes me change my mind to further my study in aus... I think people only said its a waste of money after they have failed spectacularly to impress/improve in life after many years studying here. Education wise - I reckon all (well known) universities have their pros and cons. |

QUOTE(Hikari0307 @ Nov 2 2010, 10:50 PM) well it depends though on several factors. For me, since I'm going overseas to study, I want to at least study in Universities that are ranked higher than our research universities lol =P that's not exactly hard to achieve loloh yeah on another note. you guys have any idea approximately how much does it cost for the medical examination for the visa? I can't seem to find info on it lol ^^" Added on November 3, 2010, 4:58 am QUOTE(Hikari0307 @ Nov 2 2010, 02:55 AM) hum what other options do you have? I'd go for unis in the Go8 or the ATN rather than university of Canberra. Going for one of the Go8 is great because they usually present you with a lot more exchange opportunities, not saying University of Canberra doesn't since I have no info on that. With that, I reckon it is very important that every student strife for an exchange opportunity away from their home university for a semester or two to enrich the learning process whatever your course is. Generally speaking. Australian Universities does not award Honours for Degree programmes that are three year in length. Automatic Honours like the UK only comes to those programmes that are 4 years or more like BEng,BPharm,LLB etc. For a three year course like accounting, after completing your Degree you would be awarded a normal Pass Bachelor Degree no matter how good or bad your results were. If you do good enough, you will be able to undergo an extra year doing some research in order to get Honours for your Degree making the length 4 years. Admission into these honours year is usually only on the basis of invitation from the University and you can't apply for it. Even with just a Pass Degree without Honours from Aussie it won't affect you wanting to find a job in the future. Most people from the HR departments of good companies understand the difference between non-honours degree in Aussie and other places so it would be the same to come in with a first-class honours degree from the UK with a High Distinction average from an Aussie Pass Degree. For the second part, you reminded me why in the world does Malaysia unis offer honors for commerce courses - because when I came in LYN for the first time first class / 2nd class honors were thrown around all over the place like it comes for free or something. I applaud Australian universities for recognizing the difference between a Undergraduate Bachelors Degree compared with an Undergraduate Bachelors Degree with Honors. (Anyway I'm graduating soon with an honors on my engineering so I'm cool with it This post has been edited by daccorn: Nov 3 2010, 04:58 AM |
