Should i buy my printer in Sydney or it's advisable to bring it from here ?
*
1) Do you have the weight available?

2) What kind of printer?

3) Generally, printers in Australia aren't that much expensive. It is the cost of the consumables that have a much higher markup.

Example: original HP toner that costs A$150 in Australia can be had for RM199 in Malaysia. Don't get me started on inks.

not too sure what's that, but just get a msian extension/power board and bring it down to OZ =) I'm using two extensions: msian and oz. so that pretty much covers every single piece of electronic in my room =P Generally those boards approved by SIRIM ain't that bad. I have encountered sparks. if that's the case, don't use that socket, use other sockets. =)

No idea what a generic china power bank is. Google it yourself.
*
I know I'm very un-Malaysian, but surely most people would have come across those power banks which can accept multiple types of plugs?

If not, am I doing something wrong that people are missing the pictures on the front page?

Without a TFN, the bank can and must withhold any interest credited at the maximum rate (around 45%). I assume you're Malaysian.

But you don't have to, at least I don't think so.
*
You don't have to, as in it is not mandatory, but it would be a good idea, instead of having your bank interest withheld at 46.5% for no good reason.....

I've been in Perth for year and man...kids now a days really don't know how to keep clean. I've been moving from house to house every 6 months and living with these untidy kids really drive me nuts. If anyone from murdoch uni is looking for a clean housemate next semester, do let me know shakehead.gif
*
I hear you brother. Moving twice in a year is no fun, and finding tidy people to live with can be impossible these days. Why are people so terrible?

The best you can do is to try and have female housemates. I'm not saying there are no untidy females or tidy males, but more likely than not girls are tidier.

Even if cooking all 3 meals for a month, without eating out, $100/month for food is quite an impressive feat if that is achievable. Mind sharing how do you keep your food bills so low?

Member LightningFist, admit your mistake, and move on. This is not the place for you and limeuu to have your one-upmanship games.

Canberra is cold and dry during the winters, by almost any metric. Invest in a good skin moisturiser, and buy your winter clothing there. Cold and wet and cold and dry climates are quite different. but yes, the wind chill factor does add to the harshness.

An electric blanket for the nights would be a sound investment, and long johns for the times when its really windy and you really need to go out. Please don't be the typical M'sian who turns on the heater to full blast (assuming you can even afford it!) and sits around in shorts inside while its 10C outside!

2) Re. Internships: don't get your hopes too high. If you do get one good on you, but more likely than not you will not be able to get one, for the simple fact that you are limited to only working 20hrs/wk.

You may get some luck during the semester breaks, where you can work unlimited hours, but don't hold your breath.

Its a tiered based system: http://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay/national-mi...es/default.aspx

Currently the minimum wage is $15.51 per hour gross (less after tax + superannuation). Goes up to about $16/hr from 1 July.

But i heard that if going less than one year we cant apply working +study visa? Or else can i just go for asian restaurant work without working visa??
*
Student Visas (573) applied for after April 2008 have the 20hr/week work right in them, regardless of how long (or short) the student visa is valid for.

Why would you even contemplate working in Australia without a valid working visa, Asian employer or not? Its these typical selfish Malaysian that wants to circumvent the system for their own interests, and mess things up for the rest of us, that will see Malaysia be downgraded in the assessment category for Australian visa's.

Compared to the Indian and Chinese nationals Malaysian citizens have it easy applying for Australian visa's. Keep jumping plane and working illegally and appearing on Border Security and we'll join the ranks Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, Egypt, Kenya et al when it comes to difficulty in applying for Australian visa's.

When that day comes the usual ignorant accusations of "Australians are racist" will fill this forum, and make life unnecessarily difficult for those who abide by the rules. Just so you guys can be underpaid by Asian employers.
