Hi guys! This thread has pretty much cleared 90% of my doubt. *thumbs up*.
Anyway, I will be pursuing Master of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in La Trobe University next year (Feb 2011) if everything gets done smoothly. I am left with the visa application.

This is dedicated to my friends in Malaysia who's been asking me how's life in Australia......

Basically, it has been a life changing experience. Not only have I met all sorts of people, experience all kinds of situations, I even went through many painful but Very rewarrding hardships!

I guess because Australia gives you the freedom to be what you want to be, whether study hard for school with great guidance and quality lecturers, or work hard with proffessional training, going around for adventures like surfing, hiking, even snowboarding!

You can practically work and play at the same time because the pay here is enough for you to that! or you can be like me save up and spend in Malaysia =D!!

Anyways, for dear friends, this is how i got to australia..........

I contact the australia local agency call Brightannica student agency, the following link is their website

Brightannica student Agency,

www.brightannica.com

They are quite efficient with their work and I practically didn't have to do anything but to just sent my documents and details that they asked for.
They are actually quite friendly, they even advice me on accommodation and everything like that.....

Anyways, hope it helps k....

Hope to see you guys soon ^^

I would truly like to share what i know with people interested in coming to australia though, so

please believe when i say this is not for business purposes but in spirits of enjoying writting in a forum.

I used to think that too, but considering europe's economy right now, it might be tough for students to survive up there comparing to down here.... so says my friend who's currently studying in london right now and earning only 8 pounds an hour but i am not too sure about what he say myself.

I need the only thing that i can compare btw aus and europe is the distance, cause 8 hours is definately better than 20 hours(estimate)

The European economy though having problems with sovereign debt is still robust. We are talking about some of the richest countries in the world, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway etc. Further, there are more opportunities in Europe than in Australia. That is a fact.

Survival is relative, things costs more in Australia. While one earns 8 quids an hour, a sandwich only costs about 3 pounds at M&S food. You can earn A$13 an hour but a cup of coffee on Swanston street can send you back A$6. So what is the basis of comparison here?

It takes about 7-8 hrs to fly to Melbourne, and 12-13 hrs to London. . Not too much of a difference. 20hrs of direct flight time will send you to the US.

It's kinda obvious this is an advertising attempt for the website =P
some more posted in the studying in Australia v3.1 thread with about almost the same words.
Seen a few places uses this kind of method for advertising so much already =D
Do you have some office somewhere in Malaysia?
Though I'd still rather go to IDP or my College's placement center ^^

1. Well. I think its time to refresh the first page of the thread includes those Legal Agent IDP...
2. Impose Copyright as companies may try to hijack information & duplicate it for their business services purpose.
3. Topic Tittle/Subcategory: Create a sub-category for Studying in Australia > which few University like Monash under it & others related. So any issues & education related just in this category. Its better in the way that this thread basically doesnt fall behind few pages of thread.

Just a proposal. icon_rolleyes.gif

I am very reluctant to put up ANY links to commercial entities which relate to education. Have you forgotten the stupid charade when members [="@k£LwIN@"=] and oceanblue123 came in with their "introduction support services".

Today it is IDP. Tomorrow its someone running a service between the airport and the CBD. Next thing you know people are offering their services for "assignment proof-reading". So where do you stop? Or do you want the front page nothing more but a collection of links?

I have made my stance clear on education agents, and experiences shared in the multiple versions of the Studying in Australia threads only serve to reinforce my low opinion of them.

Proposal rejected. Copyright is far more complicated than a line of text with the © logo. At most I would use a Creative Commons license, but I personally prefer it to be a something akin to the GPL, where people can modify and improve it, rather than it being static.

Claiming copyright (which I do not, as much of the information comes from many members, both past and present) of any of the material in the Studying in Australia threads is one thing. Being able to enforce the "Copyright" (note upper case) is completely another matter. There is no point "Impos[ing] Copyright" when there is no way of enforcing it when "companies [..] try to hijack information & duplicate it for their business services purpose."

I cannot understand this proposal. Reword it if you are serious in having it considered.

Speaking of education agents and IDP, IDP told me to pay them blink.gif ,my university fees as well as the OSHC fees in order to accept my offer.

Is it good idea to do that (it is a lot of money to be given to an agent unsure.gif )?
I mean, will I run into problems with the university later on if I pay my tuition fees at IDP?

lol what do you mean by you pay to IDP? What did they say to you specifically?
Usually to accept your offer indeed you would need to pay some tuition fees deposit (usually your first sem or a part of it) and OSHC though this payment is not made payable to the agent though they will help forward it to the University. Usually IDP will ask you to buy a bank-draft payable to the University along with your acceptance form or fill in your credit card details on the acceptance form and they will forward that to the University on your behalf.

1) Read the front page first. Ask vague questions, and you'll get vague answers.

2) What do you intent to study in these places (if any) to use as an entrance qualification to enter university?

go check out the structures of their programmes and which one you feel you are more comfartable with as the Foundation programmes offered in Taylor's and Trinity are for different Universities and have different structures.
