Hmm.. not sure all the sifu here aware or not.. unlike all other investment research group (e.g OSK , kenanga , HwangDBS, maybank , HLB etc...)

i notice CIMB research news always have a very strong influence on the market price

E.g

L&G : CIMB posted that L&G current price is way undervalued . they suppose to be priced at 70 - 80cent.. immediately the next day L&G price up >20% and top volume of the day

Rubber counter : CIMB once quoted that rubber will rally until CNY... and till today rubber counter rocks. (they clearly highlight on supermx and top glove).

actually has alot more of news..


P/S : any of forummer can share the link to "offline" CIMB research news? and TP pricing??

You look at the earnings and the PE multiples first la before buying a share. Can see CIMB's target multiples are high and they pegged it to CY11 forecasts. So higher risk.

The process is likewise: Bank A says Company XYZ is a good buy, gives good valuation and TP. Bank A then uses its own $$$ to buy up the shares of Company XYZ and at the same time drives up the price. Investors will then take notice and ride the boat for Company XYZ sending the shares higher. Bank A then sells the shares, pockets a large profit and those who came in late are left with losses.

So....be careful when you trade this way.

1) strong buy call = can follow buy sikit sikit play play
2) Hold = time to sell
3) sell call = it's too late to sell /either become long time holder

IMO, quite true

CIMB force sell all LCL MD's share then post positive research about LCL, guess what?
the price of LCL shoot up 100%..

we still need the report for reference, especially on how they valuate the company. next time we can do it our self

other investment company report can be as reference / benchmarking.. but CIMB's reference really influence the market badly
