Simple rule of economics. Low supply, high demand, high yield. But its just temporary, sampai bila nak jadik scalper. I'd say apple did the right thing by being cautious with the release considering the newness of the platform. Scalp or no scalp, a purchase is a purchase for them.

not that easy calculation bro. for example, the 32gb ipod touch is sold at 299usd on Apple store US, and after converting, it cost rm980++. but the item is sold at rm1199 by our apple malaysia and their resellers. so for sure the price wont be the same and i have a strong feeling the price would be just a little lower than the prices that are currently sold here in Lyn.
*
i remember when ipod touch 1st came out the 8gb was closer to 1k while the 16 was closer to 2k. ideally i think theyd price just under 2k to make it attractive compared to laptops but considering an iphone and other high end mobil is at low 2k i wouldnt be surprised they place it at that price point (at least as introduction price, to which they can slash shortly after to make it look more competitive).

i think, taking into factors the current ringgit, the price will be lower. just look at the price of new macbook, it follows the conversion with a little hike.

ksc calculation is using the ~3.2 current rate but the 1199 was the price when our ringgit is at ~3.8 rate.

I usually compare the latest gadget price between us apple store and malaysia apple store to anticipate the launch price. Plus, the 16gb wifi ipad should be lower than macmini entry price as it's priced lower in US. so if in malaysia they sell cheapest mac mini for RM2199, what will be the price of lowest iPad which is USD100 cheaper?

so based on my point, i would speculate that the price range should be between 1.6k - 1.8k for the 16GB wifi

this sounds good and likely actually.

Is there any other video converter that's fast and easy to use? Ideally free also  tongue.gif  rclxms.gif
Think dvdvideosoft pretty decent speed if ur okay at mid res. And free. Never tried handbrake(?) tho.

Great!  My daughter also just turned 3.  Do you think the iPad is a worthwhile investment as an entertainment and learning tool, or is it just a fancy high-tech toy?
*
uish, i wouldnt buy the ipad just to entertain my kid, dat kira spoiling oredi -.-'

i bought it as a web/media browser which i can carry around and store my folio (i designer mah, but not like that gay baldy fag on TV tongue.gif just kidding). i'm hardly a gadget-phile, which is why i dont mind when kids mess around with my stuff.

that said, an ipad is a bit heavy for kids to hold in their hand, an ipod is much more disposeable and ideal as a kids toy. i'd list the pro n con like so:

- ipod
pro: light, so easier to hold/carry around. for kids the size of the screen good enough for most interactive apps.

ipad: the big screen is better for drawing/reading tools. but too heavy for kids to hold up. my kid will tend to look down on the screen laying it on flat surface. not very good for posture lah. but the youtube is better and faster. and while video is still okay on ipod 2nd gen with speakers, ipad sound waaaaay better.

You can receive attachments but while in email, we can't attach anything to the email.
The other alternative way is to open a document/photo/etc and send email from there.
u can write in notes, paste pic into it and email from there too. i think similar app should allow this too, for instance paperdesk, which u can draw in as well.

Why not just wait for the day of lauching then everyone will know the price. It is meaningless to have a debate on the price. Just my 2 cents
*
No its not. When it comes to gadget, impulse play a lot on affecting purchase. Speculating prices may not help those who already decide to wait but for those who are weighing whether to get earlier at expense of overpaying, it matters. After all, 1 to 2 months does affect ppl who buy on impulse, thats the amount of time they jump on a new gadget tongue.gif
