Does it mean, it will make Docs To Go "Universal"? And people who have purchased iPhone version will get the iPad optimized version too? UPDATE: Taken from --> http://forums.dataviz.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48 QUOTE Here are some of the common questions we hear about Documents To Go for iPhone/iPod Touch: This post has been edited by Edoras: May 7 2010, 07:04 AMDoes Documents To Go support the iPad? - The iPad is designed to be able to run all current iPhone/iPod Touch apps, so the current version of Documents To Go should work correctly. We are also working on an update which will take advantage of the higher screen resolution of the iPad (it should be released sometime in the near future, although there is no exact date yet). The iPad-optimized version will be a free update. If I buy Documents To Go for iPhone/iPod Touch now, will I be able to upgrade to the iPad version for free? - Yes. The iPad optimization will be part of an update for the existing iPhone/iPod Touch versions of Documents To Go. It will be a free update, so if you buy it now, you'll be able to install the update for free when it's available. |

QUOTE(Edoras @ May 7 2010, 09:05 AM) Not too shabby, word is okie, tends to preserve more formatting than Pages. Excel works just fine. I have not edited PPT before so not sure, only viewed it which I now use Good Reader for. The x2 mode really does make the fonts look fugly and since it is only x2 mode and does not scale, it really does not take advantage of the screen estate. That's my experience so far. I keep hoping for an update. |

The iPad isn't in itself the tool, it's simply a new medium for learning tools to be presented for children. The apps are the most important part of the equation.
My kid (2 yrs old) is on my iPhone whenever he gets the chance. He loves his Thomas & Friends apps, Doodle Buddy, several of the apps from Duck Duck Moose, Monkey Preschool Lunchbox, etc. He learns alphabets, colors, counting, memorization, etc from those games. It's wonderful. He can operate the iPhone all by himself now. From waking the phone from sleep, to scrolling through the pages to find his fav apps. I plan to get the 64GB version because my kids loves movies and it'll be great for traveling, which is what I do now with my 3Gs. All their fav shows/movies are on there and can keep them occupied when they are done eating at meal times at a restaurant. Can't wait to get mine! |

It depends, my kid learned the alphabet (among other things) from my iPhone so for me it was worthwhile. |

QUOTE(Lord_Ashe @ May 7 2010, 10:50 AM) My son sleeps with the iPad now. Thanks for the feedback. My kid learned alphabets, words, counting and colours the old fashioned way (Barney, flash cards, etc) but hope some apps can introduce more activities for her like read-aloud storybooks, sing-along nursery rhyme, etc. I wouldn't want her to be too attached to the iPhone/iPad, though, and would prefer real physical activities whenever possible. With that being said, I am seriously considering an iPhone/iPad now. Thanks guys May even get another wifi model to travel with paired with my future huawei 5830 purchase. |

Don't get us wrong. It's not like the iPhone/iPad has replaced all conventional toys and learning aids. It's just another learning tool is all. =)
My kids still read real books and play with all their real toys 80% of the time. |

Do you think the iPad is a worthwhile investment as an entertainment and learning tool, or is it just a fancy high-tech toy? uish, i wouldnt buy the ipad just to entertain my kid, dat kira spoiling oredi -.-'i bought it as a web/media browser which i can carry around and store my folio (i designer mah, but not like that gay baldy fag on TV that said, an ipad is a bit heavy for kids to hold in their hand, an ipod is much more disposeable and ideal as a kids toy. i'd list the pro n con like so: - ipod pro: light, so easier to hold/carry around. for kids the size of the screen good enough for most interactive apps. ipad: the big screen is better for drawing/reading tools. but too heavy for kids to hold up. my kid will tend to look down on the screen laying it on flat surface. not very good for posture lah. but the youtube is better and faster. and while video is still okay on ipod 2nd gen with speakers, ipad sound waaaaay better. |
