After about 3-4 days of inactivity, my PS3 suddenly can't read discs (CD/DVD/BD) (
Wouldn't recognize any USB connections too. (A reset and that worked - USB ok, discss still not reading)

Tried the "File System Restore" trick and didn't work.

Any suggestions ?

Unit is a 40GB (swapped with 320GB) bought in 2008 from GH, Curve.

Yups default. Why so low ? 1492 or 1482 is as low as you should go. Checked your modem/router for any change to ip defragmentation behaviour ?

Something funny with only MY PSN then, since US PSN works fine.

Should have tried a system restore first. If failed then only full format.

Samsung has those i believe, 120Hz LCD but max reso is 1680x1050 @ 720p.

Not sure if it will work with the PS3 though.

After a bit of reading, supposedly the PS3 3d support requires HDMI 1.4 which non of the monitors (Samsung/Alienware) support. So no go I guess.
Rich members are welcomed to try and post the results though.

But you still need to download the security key/activate the download/game later after restoring. Otherwise you can't play the game.
No way around it.

Just download the same thing again, it will say "activating" or something similiar. Then you can cancel the download. For other titles, there is a separate security key file to download.

the length and quality of the shielding also plays a part. Longer length = higher signal attenuation = more noise at high bandwidth @ resolutions.

1080p 24hz - still flawlwss.
1080p 60hz - white dots.

I'm not advocating expensive cables over cheaper ones. For short lengths cheaper cables work just fine.
Just trying to highlight that there are QA issues with cheap cables 15feet and above.
