I'm in the UK at the moment and here they're selling the Xbox 360 arcade for RM 610. A quick check on Lowyat's Garage sale shows that it averages around RM950++ for the exact same thing.

I was considering if I should purchase it since I am going back soon. I'm just concerned about any compatibility issues that I might stumble upon when it comes to games. Will it be a big problem? I couldn't find what region the original games sold in Malaysia are. (NTSC-J, NTSC-U/C or PAL.) I noticed most of the big releases are not region locked.

Anyone out there in Malaysia with a UK unit? Or if you're experienced in this topic do advice. smile.gif Thanks in advance!

Its gonna be a problem if you're looking for PAL games. Here, the NTSC-J games are most abundant.

it looks cheap but you're get your headache really soon.

Most of the premium title come with region lock like Forza 3, Halo 3, Gears of War series etc.

Unless you got a way to obtain games & support from PAL region, else do not even think of getting it.

Singapore is using NTSC-J console, so Malaysia although unofficially supported, should use the same region as singapore. there're only region free or NTSC-J available in Malaysia.

Alternatively, please refer to this thread

tumpang thread dear TS,

Im from canada, like ts said, Xbox is quite cheap here. RM700 plus minus ( plus 2 - 3 8.0/10.0 rank games )

1- will i get taxed if i bring it thru klia?
2- Will it be compatible with ntsc-J games, since now, im using ( i think ) ntsc-US.

as for games, you can purchase it thru ebay. it's quite cheap.

1-Bring in as a gift and it should not be taxed.
2-Canada is NTSC-U/C, so their console cannot read NTSC-J. which brings you a major headache as it's not easy to get NTSC-U/C games in Asia.

oh remember to buy a stepdown since you are saying about NTSC-U? if its PAL then the voltage is compatible.
