As per topic. I would like to know how much have everyone seen the price of this model. 46" Samsung LED LCD TV Series 8 (UA46B8000XR)

Not really as it's very price dependent. If it is going to be more than RM 10,000, I am going to go for the Sony 46" Z550A instead. Pretty much aimed at getting the Sony, just looking at the alternatives before making the purchase. For my dad actually, I already own that same Sony panel. Gotta love the free PS3 offer they had. That was a real deal breaker. =P

The reason I am not looking at the 8500 is because the 8500 is still very early in the technology. And from what I am seeing from the prices of LED lit LCDs, they are very very expensive and do not bring that much of a performance/quality imrpovement to justify the price.

From what I can gather, the 46" Samsung 8000 is at least RM 13,000? If that's the case, then the 8500 is going to be.. urm... very sakit in the pockets.. lol

Will be having a trip around Ikano/Curve tomorrow anyway to gather some idea on the pricing.

At the moment it's only a price check, if it's reasonable then I might consider buying it for my dad.

It is just that current indication (from magazine and the only google search) shows the Samsung 46" 8000 at RM 15,000 and that is very crazy for something that is suppose to be neck to neck to the 46" Sony Z550A that's only going for at RM 8999 before rebates etc.

Had a look around Curve area today (I know, not the best place to shop for cheapest prices), but it's just as an indication of the market.

Seems like LED TVs generally have a premium in pricing. Since the Z550A is suppose to compete with the Samsung Series 8 (8000), and yet the Samsung 8000 is priced way higher, I've decided to just recommend my dad to go with the Sony.

One thing though, I realised that there is a higher end Sony display over the Z550A, and that is the X Series. Saw on at Curve, but it was 40". Model was X450 or something. This model is more than a year old and is using Bravia 2 Pro and only 100 Hz, but then it uses Local Dimming RGB LED Backlight.
