Has anyone here encounter noise problem with their Viva, especially when trying to slow down (by pressing the brake), and come to stop? The noise can be 'ka ka ka', or even like something loosening, like at the front bottom right side? The noise usually is not there when the car is cold, but after running a short while, I guess after the car has warmed up, the noise can be heard when car slows down to stop.

I have sent the car to Perodua SC, and was told it's drive shaft problem, and has changed it, not once, but two times. It would be ok for about 2 months before the noise is back. The SC people said it's a known problem. I don't see much discussion about this problem. Just wanted to know if it is only my car, or what?

Appreciate any of your sharings.
Thanks.

In fact I have changed the drive shaft 2 times already. The 2nd time didn't make the noise go away but make it more noise. The minute I was out of the SC and get the noise, I went back and ask the them why problem not fixed and let me drive the car away. They didn't tell me problem not fixed also. Then told me need to change mounting la. And order part needs to wait. To and back with them, and the waiting. I left car over night there and they didn't do anything, and the next day told me no parts. I got futious and complaint to Perodua customer care. Straight away they call me back and said managed to get the part. Anyway, ther takes a couple more days and finally fixed. And they told me it's temporary, after a while the noise will come back.

Told me that I don't have to do anything, they will call me. That was back in Oct 2009. Until now I never get their call. And now the famous noise is back again!

What can we do? Can't they do a better job, to get our continue support for Malaysian car ah?? Disappointed.

Hey, guys...
Sometimes when i was driving the car...
some noises will come out from the right hand side of dashboard
the noises sound like "tatata" or "kakaka"
some some like metal hits
and it will only occur when the rpm is low
and around at 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear
i had sent it to sc nearby my house for few times...
but the problem still cannot be solved
and those noises will not always occur, only sometimes
and anyone of you has the same problem with me?
may share the way to solve it?
thanks

I had this prob, told the SC mid last year, they said they'd call me back when the replacement driveshaft is ready. Waited quite long and made a few calls. Then finally somewhere in November they called me up, and they replaced it for me, FOC. Its been fine since then, no more annoying noise.

I have the exact same problem with my newly bought Viva Elite. I am at the service centre now for regular car servicing and I told them about this brake sound. The guy told me I am not the only one complaining and Perodua "sedang menyiasat masalah ini". LOL.

i guess man power is their issue..
normally when u go SC service .. u already have to make booking and the que is normally quite long.
Imagine they do recall ... others service will have to que for few months?

I have the same drive shaft problem of ketat ketat sound like you all. After I did wheel balancing and alignment by Perodua dealer. There is no more sound, may be a little bit, very minor. Perodua Service Centre says they will replace a new drive shaft for me under warranty. I just wonder how the mechanic judge correctly or not.

my wife viva elite have the same problem....

1) drive shaft "kakaka" sound when slowing down
2) dashboard nearby the glove box there got rattling sound when idling...
3) rear left side abs got "kruk" sound when going over uneven road
4) when brake apply..got rattling sound at caliper there
5) when turn on the car headlamp...radio giving whistle sound upon accelerating...

all the problem above solve except for no 2...

1) change new drive shaft..waited for 2 months...using for a year now...
2)they claim the screw to hold the ECU to the mounting loose..but they tighten ady still got sound after few weeks....its been a year ady too...
3)change only 1 side of the abs...causing the other side got"kruk" sound ady
4)change the brake caliper pin..
5)change new radio....

I have the same problem, hearing the "knocking sound" coming from the front of the car.
The noise comes when i accelerate as from 2nd to 3rd, 4th and 5th gear.
The sound worsens when taking a curving section on the road.
All sorts of part replaced, including shock-absorber-mounting rubbers (they seems to be of low quality anyways) but the sound did not go away.
So if replacing all the possible parts outside the gearbox does not solve the problem, there's only one more option left.
Considering the fact it makes more noise when turning either left or right, it only can be the bearings inside the gearbox.
Those bearings are from such low quality that a slight impact (hole in the road) can damage those bearings and cause the knocking sound to occur while accelerating or slowing down as this creates the greatest force on such bearings.
Refurbishing the gearbox is not really an option as this is expensive.

I also encounter the problem above. When my car first few year buy dint have any problem, but on the third year then the sound tatata comes out when you accelerating the car, even sometime it will happens on idling engine. But this sound not comes out always. It's like metal hits. Send to Perodua Center, the technician says maybe engine knocking or many carbon sticks at the combustion chamber. So he try to flush out the carbon out but the sounds still there.

The other one is the brake braking. When I drive around 90-120km/h and applies brake force to it, the sound kruk kruk kruk kruk. Don't know whether is the drive shaft problem or not. And haven't send to Perodua Center to check for this problem yet.

Does anyone encounter the same problem to me? Pls share the way to rectified it.

Hi, I have owned a Viva too and I have experienced this problem too since I drove it. It have my concern too but after I discovered that Viva have a safety feature called "Brake Pedal Intrusion". Maybe the voice and the vibration came from this safety feature? To me I'm not sure about it but is not wrong to share opinion, right?

hello to all, problem with my viva may any people here can give opinion??
ViVA auto 2009
Everything seem ok until last month after I hit into a hole on the road..
Send to workshop , change rim from 13" to 14" since it is old & seriously dented.
Problem arise later -
- steering trembling became obvious
- can feel the obvious vibration.
Go to another workshop change mounting engine OEM japan. but problem persist. every time from slow to fast 40km/j to 80km/j can feel car body trembling sound.
get another opinion & change back Ori set mounting engine. issue didn't solve. still have trembling sound when accelerating.
Was ask to check air-cond compressor bcoz the sound most obvious if air cond is on during driving. turn off air cond. the sound is very minimal.
Go check at air-cond shop. say compressor is function normal.
- have been to 3 workshop - all gv different opinion & suggest try& error icon_question.gif
