Hi, I'm going to buy my first PSP and need some help in getting the right one for me.

First off, I live in the US. I've been deciding between the PSP 3000 and PSP Go and can't seem to reach a conclusion yet despite researching the net like crazy

What I want is to be able to play all FF games and I think both Dissidia and FF7 has gone to the PSN but Crisis Core is still unavailable? Do you think it would be available for download soon on PSN? If I purchase a Go, am I restricted to only getting games from PSN or are there other ways of getting games still? Like copying it into a memory card from a UMD rip (does this method even exist I do not know lol) etc?

and what is this thing about homebrews and the fact that american made PSPs cannot play the kinds we download on the net? are they somehow connected?

so basically i just want to know which is better in the long run. could someone please list out the pros and cons and what you think about which PSP is better, and why?

u cant go wrong with either of them. if u prefer to hv physical copy of the games u play , go with 3000, if not psp GO is a good choice. personally i would go for GO. games are coming to PSN thick and fast so no issue there.

psp GO can only get their games from PSN stores at the moment , no method of ripping or transfering from UMD exist to my knowledge.

homebrews is a more civilized word for piracy if its concerns psp. some may argue its not. but usually ppl mod their psp to play games that they got for free on the net. just stick with the legal ways of getting games if u are living over there in the states.

long run , both is also good . choose wisely. oh btw psp go hv internal memory , so u dont hv to fork out for memory cards. so thats a pro for GO.

If you're in America, then you shouldn't have any trouble downloading games from the PSN. Over here, its always an issue. Plus point is, American PSN are always quick and efficient. You can't go wrong with both model. PSP 3000 means you'll have a good collection of physical games in the long run. For PSP GO, the convinience is there, but who knows if one day the internal memory might go corrupt. A reset would only mean all your games be gone too.

However, I'm a bit more inclined to get PSP GO since downloading games can be easy and probably cheaper than umd.

downloading game from psn i think is same price as physical copy, it internal mem corrupt , ur game is not lost , u can always re-download the game u hv bought from psn.

as an owner of the PSP3000

go for the PSP3000... you can download games from PSN as same as PSP go,

some games aren't for digital download... and will only be available on Physical copy...

both as it's ups and downs... but for me, i'll stick to my psp 3000...

All PSP games from the launch of PSP Go are needed to be sold on the PSN store.
Compulosory starting this year.

my personal choice is PSP3000 because of the bigger screen, and slightly cheaper price
but it is very hard to fit in pocket

I bought a US PSP3000 after that issue with the Asian PSP Go regarding the Comic Book Viewer. I agree on the bigger screen. Also, I find the PSP3000 more ergonomic. Maybe it's just because I have big hands, but my hand aches after playing the PSP Go for just a few minutes. No such problem with the PSP3000.

PSP3000 allows you to download from PSN as well. If you want the best of both world (UMD & PSN), you should stick with a 3000 but GO is more compact and comes with a 16GB storage space if it matters to you.

american made older PSP with older motherboard and firmware are homebrew-able as well which makes it able to play UMD rips. this is as much i can tell u because anything more is illegal in LYN

3000 is better overall and more convenience,unless u really2 like Go design then to hell with convenience lol

Only major difference is that PSP Go uses digital downloads, and PSP-3000 uses UMD. There are other minor stuff (like physical difference, which IMO just needs getting used to). So decide which is best for you, digital downloads or UMD purchases.

PSP 3000 can also play with digital downloads.. Basically what a PSP Go can do PSP 3000 can also do, plus option to play on physical media. So you are paying the extras for the 16Gb internal memory and different (good or bad depends on one's taste) design.

I wud say tat it all boils down 2 personal choice. Besides preference for design, I think d other significant differences wud be as below:

PSP 3K
Bigger - More ergonomic
Handles both media (UMD or PSN d/l)
Bigger Screen

PSP Go
Smaller - Easier to lug around
Has 16Gb storage compared to jus MemStick for PSP 3K

what the price for PSP 3K?

i saw in lelong PSP 3006 is about rm880 ....
hmmm...... any different about 3k with 3006 ?

as long as the first digit starts with 3...you don't have to bother about the back. Its just different numbers for different countries. Its all still PSP 3000.

3K = refers to entire series (3001, 3002, etc)
3006 = Asian model 3K

Edit: Nvm about the Hannah Montana package. Amazon naik harga already.

having both of them i prefer psp go slightly more coz of its good lcd contrast and sharper image and not to mention there is little to no ghosting at all like the psp 3000 but my psp 3000 play homebrew...

I advice to buy PSP GO since your states provides all the best it can, 16GB flash memory are much more good than previous PSP-3000 which need some cost in buying additional memory card. In Asian there so many illegal makes them to goes piracy because of content in PSN not much to compare U.S, Europe and Japan market are much wider any asian country. The price are much more cheaper than afford the original. Now even PSP-3000 costing around $178 dollar or RM600 for standard version (black colour) or $223 dollar or RM750 in variety of colour to choose. But still exp on UMD which is not value to buy since PSP GO launch unless you're from other country than Asian.

for psp go, if the internal memory corrupt, the game we bought from PSN can be redownload or we need to pay again?

Well, I'd say.. If your not environmental frenly.. Like me.. Lol.. XD Go for the UMD.. My~ Does the box not get you excited when you bought it and unseal it??!! Lol.. Paiseh.. for my fetish... Without it, it makes me feel kinda hollow.. lol.. So.. I suggest you buy PSP 3000...But the 16gb internal memory is really tempting.. Go for the go if you dun mind the packaging.. Its kinda worth it.. The PSN is not a prob... Allot of game will eventually go up there.. Somore ur in the USA.. Yea.. And no piracy there.. Who knows someone may be spying on ur internet activity..

How many games are you going to play?

If only one or two, buy the Go.

If many, buy the 3000.

I buy Go because I only play Resistance and GOW
