Hi,

I am a fairly new member but recently my house underwent some renovation and I changed a number of electrical appliances. Being the typical Malaysian, I also went too all sorts of places to buy my products - cause each shop is cheaper for certain products tongue.gif Anyhow here is a totally unbiased report of the various shops. Thought you good people here might want to know.

Electrolux Dryer - LH
Bought it at HomeDec from LH (the one in SS2). Came with a stacking kit for my Eletrolux washing machine. Delivery was late 8plus PM and they forgot to bring in the stacking unit. I waited for them since 3pm in the afternoon. So with only a wife - it's impossible for me to stack the units up myself. Left for about 2 weeks. Many call to the SS2 shop - and each time they promised the stacking unit would be there - but I only get conned again and again. Mind you - I was going out of my way to collect it from their shop and they can't even get the proper stock. Overall rating ? 3 rotten tomatoes... I will avoid if I were you.

Electrolux Hood - ESH
Bought it from ESH. Now this company has a good reputation and my in laws have been buying from them like forever with no issues and good service. Don't know if it's just me - but they bombed this time around. Went to pay for the item and was told it will be available in the next 3 days to self collect. Fine. 3 days later called - and got the reply that there was no such order. Called again - found out they missed out the order and never placed the order with Electrolux. Asked them to recommend someone who can do the hood piping and their answer was to go to a hardware shop. In the end had to ask my contractor to find someone to do it. Back to the hood - had to wait another 3 days. Called - and guess what - the stock hasn't arrived. Arrive another day. Wait again - by now I have lost all patience. Made a very angry phone call and gave them ultimatum to get the product in by that evening. It arrived after delays - and when I went there - they gave me the wrong hood. Good thing I noticed and found my actual hood at a corner. They never even bother to check the model before handing it to us. Overall rating? 3 rotten tomatoes - there goes their reputation.

Johnson Suisse WC (Toilet Bowl) & Basins - Houz Depot
Bought 2 sets from them. Price is considerably cheap (30%-45%) compared to all the other shops over PJ. Anyhow the WC comes with a connector for the sewage pipe. During delivery, 1 connector was missing & 1 basin was missing. Told they had no stock - funny cause when it was being ordered it has stock. I am sure we are all familiar with this. Anyhow- I had to self collect the basin after I called them (although I had paid a delivery charge). When I went there to collect the basin - the connector was still out of stock. This time i insist they deliver the connector. They said they will deliver within 3 days. After 5 days I called back - where is the connector. They said the driver did deliver and waited outside my house for 2 hours and they called me and finally left the thing in my house porch. I said they are lying - no miss calls on my phone and which driver would wait 2 hours outside a house & drop off things at the porch without signature? I asked them to show me the Delivery Order - but sure enough they can't. Lastly they decided to deliver in another 3 days. This time I waited for them in my house - was supposed to deliver before 12. I was there since 10 am. I probably made about 15 phone calls that day and got up to the higher manager. The delivery finally came at 3pm. All for one piece of connector. Overall rating? 5 rotten tomatoes.

Note: Their prices are cheap for WCs & Basin - very noticable comapred to even ll of the shops. As such, please go there to buy things that are only cash and carry if possible. Else perhaps just have to endure the pain like I did. Example: I saw the WC at other shops selling anywhere from RM800 to Rm1.4K. I bought it for RM599 (799 with a package of Johnson Suisse Basin and tap head) - this is for a Johnson Suisse with dual flush system & one piece WC (means the tangki and toilet bowl is one piece of ceramic).

Electrical Products - 2 Panasonic fans, 2 Panasonice ventilators, 2 Joven water heaters - Gain City
They say leave the best for last and that's what I am doing. I had very good dealing with this shop. It's the same row as the Nanking Vegetarian restaurant near Rothmans roundabout. They are actually a wholesaler and don't have a proper showroom - so it's best to know what you want when you go there. Price? CHEAP! even when compared with ESH. Ask for this girl named Ivy. In terms of stock - those that she says no stock she tell beforehand and she rushes to get stock for me. I went on a Saturday and she said she could get the ones missing on Monday. True enough they got the stock ready on Monday. Delivery? They arrived one hour earlier. A bit of hassle for me as I have to rush to my house- but nonetheless I was happy as you can see from my experiences above. Unfortunately they don't sell kitchen products else I would have gotten it from them also. Very honest and good price. A lot of good advice from them. Example: I was told not to buy a Panasonic Inverter Air-Con model cause it requires special gas and servicing would be a whopping RM300 & the spare part would be very expensive if it breaks down. She recommended Haier & LG (which I was skeptical at first) but she gave me the facts. Yes - their airconds are cheap too. Initially I was thinking of buying Panosonic Water Heaters - but she told me a lot of cutomer complain of breakdowns after 4-5 years. However with Joven, even hair salons use 10 years still very good. Anyhow - overall a good experience. Price, promises and delivery was much better than I expected in fact spot on. Look for Ivy (012 2722 726) once again. Overall Rating? 3 stars.

Abit out of topic - but deserve a mention.

Tiles / Marble, etc - WST Tiles (In Taman TunDr Ismail) 03 7710 8013
Another person recommended to me by my contractor. It's the same row as Popeye's restaurant but the next block. If it facing a corner Perodua showroom. This is a great place to buy. Been there countless times before I decided and every time the staff is friendly and offering advise. Miss Ng is the owner of the shop and a very pleasant person to deal with. The price is reasonable and the delivery is prompt and as promised. I miscalculated a few mosaic tiles and she immediately sent them over without asking me for payment first (I had paid in full for the first batch of tiles). All in all - very satisfied with this. I recommend this shop if you are looking for tiles. Overall rating? 3 stars.

Those who have done renovations on their house should know the amount of stress and pressure it takes on the house owner due to so many little projects going on at the same time. Good and reliable vendors are very hard to find nowadays - so that's why I highlighted the last 2. Hope you all have found this to be helpful.

Oh yes - I want to buy a Sony LCD TV - where can I get it for the cheapest and best service??? The Malaysian in me is enquiring again.

Harvey Norman... accepts zero interest credit card payments without hassle, or 2/3% extra charges crap. Delivery reliable and won't sell to you if no stock... i.e. no bullshit salesmen... at least I have not met any. Also willing to take returns for defective products on same day and cancel credit card transaction. Extended warranty support more trustworthy I presume cos they are regional chain with global arrangements with manufacturers.

Sure, buy from ESH, HSL, Legend and the rest can be cheaper... but you have to go through the hassle and pay cash and tolerate unprofessional salesmen/deliverymen. And try returning defective goods to them... good luck!

bought a LCD TV recently from LH SS2, quite satisfied with their pricing and service. No comments on delivery as I picked it up from the store myself.

agree with the above, only that Jintex didn't carry the brand that I wanted, if not I'd definitely be another happy Jintex customer smile.gif

I bought most of my electrical stuff from legend. I've read somewhere that they are to be avoided, but never had any issues with them. Bought 4a/c, refrigerator and LED tv from them recently.
