2. just check all the shops in lowyat and also j-one/yl in pudu plaza. but dont get tricked by certain famous shops like Tarita
3. ori or malaysian set u check the warranty card before buying u will see nikon malaysia on the warranty card. no other names should be there. if it is, then it's ap.
4. make sure u cross check the serial number of the dslr body and lens so that u will know they did not swap the stuff
5. make sure when u just start the dslr u can choose the location, date etc etc. tht shows the dslr never been used before
6. if u have the budget get d5000 for the cmos sensor. u will love it a lot for sure.

Just sharing... I bought my D5000 at Times Square. RM2700 includes Bag, 4G SDHC, Body and Kitlens, Battery and Charger. Free a Standard Tripod(not normal plastic type) - standard for DSLR, and what's attract me was Free 1 extra battery where other shop want you to add more $$ for purchase. Then I add another RM100 for UV Multi-coated Filters and 1 fine Screen protector. Total bout RM2.8k...

Feeling its a very good deal alredy. I m see some other region do comes with Free Trial NX-2 software. Not sure whether gt anot? U may check? Looks fantastic software but havent try yet. Any1 try d?

Try comparing inside Garage Sale, might get cheaper, but still around that range. The freebies are also important 

And make sure that's not a grey set =)[Nikon Malaysia Warranty is a must]

It's ori. As long as it's printed Nikon (Malaysia) at the distro column then it's ok.
The HK in model probably means something... but I don't know what.
There should be 2 warranty card if you're buying a kit. One for the body and one for lens.

remember to read the manual...filter...any cheap filter will be ok...standard is hoya or kenko...
