Hi guys, need some advice from u guys but not sure is this the right post for it here? I currently owned a D3000 & i bought it on 27/11/09, just barely 1 mth plus & i bought it from Hong Kong with International warranty Service.

I love my new cam as it is really easy to manage & good for beginners smile.gif But lately i heard the calling for D90 or a pre-loved D300 as i'm thinking of getting a lil serious wt photography. Wt my budget constrain, i need to sell off my new baby but i couldn't find what's the second-hand price for this model as it is still very new. Another question is how much can i sell it for? Would ppl want to buy a set from HK?

C.P.U,

I'm a newbie also actually and there are so much more i need to learn & improve smile.gif I'm currently struggling with my AF 50mm f/1.8D lens as it is not easy to manual focus. Went out with 2 friends for outdoor portrait on 1st Jan & it was challenging (with my 50mm lens) but i did benefit from the experience i had. Many of my family members are into photography and i was being advice to consider to upgrade sooner or later so i thought since my set is still new (better price?) and why not?

My dad used to be a full time photographer during the film SLR era & he owned a small photo shop business with the machine for photo print & a studio. That's where i started to develop the interest when i was young. He is now retired from his line and very content with his D60 & a few other compact cams. Oh well i'm in no rush to sell off, but if there is a serious buyer then i will consider smile.gif Otherwise i will just save more & get another 1 later in the future so i can keep my D3000 for traveling purpose since it is so light & handy (which i like) smile.gif

at my opinion, losing rm 100~200 is firm...but then ur set is HK set....hmm...how long is the warranty??
because from what i know, international warranty divided by half....
(mean like if i buy the camera frm sg,then the warranty only half year if i wan international warranty)

noobie,
Losing RM100 - RM200 doesn't sound tht bad, was worried that will people will press me for better price since my set is from HK. I was not told about the half year part. The seller told me that it is 1 year International Warranty which it comes with a card & also an official receipt. Many travelers or holiday makers were buying cameras from them when i was there. In fact another friend of mine bought a D90 & i purchased 2x D3000 (1 for my younger brother). HK really has got good deal to offer, but i guess there is a price to pay which is the warranty part. Just checked my receipt & card, it is stated 1 year and no further details sad.gif But it is ok lah, not desperate to sell unless there is serious buyer then i can consider lah. Hehehe i guess the best is for me to work harder to save more & buy another set so i can keep my D3000 for traveling smile.gif

Im not sure, but i guess the warranty system is like this?
u buy from MY, u have 1 year MY warranty n 6 months international warranty
same as buy from HK, i year HK warranty but 6 months international

most laptops companies have such similar system
2 years warranty, but only 1st year is international warranty, 2nd year is only local warranty

General_Nic,

If that is the case, my set will worth lesser than market price? sad.gif((

guys i wanna ask
thinking of getting myself a 50mm f1.8 AF-D  for my nikon
bokeh, potrait and stuff
second hand for RM 300
isit hard to manual focus using this lens?
*
I'm currently using this lens & to be honest, at times it is a pain to use especially under dim light. Haha it makes it harder for me especially with eye make-up for dinner and i ended up looking like a panda with my eye make up all over!! Have to manual focus but outdoor not too bad, just need to get the hang of it. Last Sunday went for photo shoot (portrait) with friends & was using my my 50mm on manual mode for the 1st time, kinda tough cause need to take care of setting & to focus at the same time with the object moving or changing pose. I suppose i find it hard to handle it is because i'm still really new in photography.

hi, in my opinion D40/D40x/D60/D3000/D5000 is a very good DSLR. although it is called entry-level DSLR but i do not agree that it is for beginners. There is nothing you cannot do with the entry level camera (unless you are talking about HDR and some advance features in the higher end DSLR). I have been using D40 for almost 2 years now, it is still my favorite DSLR although i also own a D90. Although D40/D40x/D60/D3000/D5000 is lacking of the built-in motor, but that is what makes it lighter! If you got the budget, keep this camera where you can still use this as spare unit, buy the mid/higher end DSLR once you are familiar with all the functions in D3000. That is just my opinion. if you want to sell it, u can post it in the Garage Sales or i know many people post in the Free Trade Zone site.

No doubt i love my D3000, light weight & small smile.gif Ya if i get to allocate more for this hobby, i wouldn't mind keeping this as a spare for travel use. Thanks for your advice smile.gif
