guys...i m new to this dslr world..a question to ask...does a lens hood make much difference to the pic i took ?
i saw a few types of lens hood available, round and petal...any difference between those shape and material ??
btw, fyi, i m using d60 with kitlens....

hoods is useful especially on telephoto lens
its purpose is to prevent unwanted lights/flares entering
but for kit lens 18-55 u dun really nid a hood
maybe jz for cooler n nicer look for your kitlens

Oh yea 1.4 DOF is too thin, easy to misfocus. Gratz on your successful photoshoot, hoping for more nice photos to come ^^

How many ppl are getting the ebook together now? If after conversion and divide the price is ok with me i might wan to join... cuz my pocket damn tight, saving for new body and lens T.T

we really had fun in yesterday's photo shooting, not only we shoot wendy & her puppy, we also shoot other ppl's puppy too because the park was full of puppy, most of them are very cute!

thank you guys (maxh3h3 & illegaldragon) for joining us and making it a success i'll sure will organise another session sometime soon. but mostly likely the next session will not be a photo shooting session, it's the workshop tentatively by early march. hope to get more to join me. I've even got 2 photog friends joining this workshop all the way from mentakap, 1 of them is Alan who joined our shooting yesterday.

yup, we enjoyed ourselves self-snapping with the fish eye but too bad both models and their friends already left, otherwise we could even self-snap our group photo!

thanks to illegaldragon, i got poisoned by his tammy sp90 even though i have to manual focus (no AF motor) with my d60, but the bokeh is damn nice! will upload some of the photos soon.

looking forward for the TT, i'll surely join you guys if the location (i'm ok with BTS) & the timing are right for me

just got my 2nd hand nikkon 50mm f1/8 ,
MF is real challenge needs lots of practice now...
but the pic is sharp n sweet....
any tips from the sifus on MF ? 

i rmb last time got someone saying that u can see if the viewfinder there got the green light(the one that does when ur AF is commplete)...
so u can check whether ur pic is in focus or not depend on that green light...
not reli sure thou i never try mf before..

That works for MF? I thought it is only an indicator when the AF has been done.

lets say i have about rm2k (from angpao  )
which lens is more worth between these 3?
1) either Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G AF-S or Sigma 50mm f/1.4G (basically 50mm lens)
2) Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC
3) Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR

im thinking between these 3 cos of each lenses advantages & disadvantages, n their price range r very close
i always wanted the 50mm, but it can be too narrow sometimes n very inconvenient to change lenses
so comes in the thought to get Tamron 17-50, but getting this lens will mean my kitlens is wasted
thinking of 70-300 cos i dun have zoom lens, but the f/5.6 at 300mm may be to hard to use in low light

If i survived this thursday, then im going...

what if u go D80 2nd? got motor inside. later u can use the item longer... no need to thnk for upgrade. if dat fit ur budget la
