yesterday,
i got my replacement dvd recorder after i sent for warranty.

i connected my astro b.yond to my recorder via composite video cable,
and component cable in between tv and recorder,
i tried to watch any HD channel like HBO HD,
i realized that the picture will have black color border on the top and bottom,
and my screen appeared "copy protection failed".

very surprise still can watch it via composite cable..  smile.gif

i just wonder how to get 5.1 sound from the byond box. i have pioneer 280 as my home theater set up. but it has only 2 audio jack in((l/r). any advice to make proper connection to get 5.1 HBO HD experience.

Not every DVD HTiB in the market has digital (coax/optical) input. The cheaper sub RM500 ones don't. The ones that cost more than that have either optical or coax, and only half have both.

And for those who insist on Monster cable to ensure a better Dolby Digital quality, please stop. If the receiver can decode the DD signal using a simple RCA cable, then it works. Until that cable no longer works (your receiver intermittently decodes the DD signal), enjoy the cheap and easy. The same goes to the HDMI cable!

thanks for the explanation. really helps, unfortunately pioneer HTZ-280 doesnt have optical input.
so mean no way to listen to 5.1 audio from astro byond.
PS: the rca part i dont quite understand tongue.gif
