It can decode DD 5.1 using Amp and HDMI cable. No problem for me so far installed almost 1 month.whereas for DVD player able to do so thru HDMI.

My BD player, DVD player, astro and DVD recorder go in Amp first then only using 1 HDMI cable out to TV
