Yeap , thats right . Mine they checked too before collecting the old unit .
*
Is it true? how many of you guys experience the same?

I apply byond thru online yesterday, today cs call me for t&c. She said they will install all unit (dish, cable, dmt & remote) but i must return old set. If i want to keep old set, they will charge RM80 for each items. that's mean, DMT-RM80, dish-RM80, smart cad-RM80 laugh.gif
I said i want to keep dmt only for my mom's house (still use sluggish old nokia dmt laugh.gif ). She said better i change my dmt with my mom & return my mom's dmt to them, so i wont need to pay anything.
Could i do that?

No no.... the component output is SD, 576i....only 576i.... so when  u feed this signal to ure tv, ure tv will know automatically what to do, which is resize it for u.... i feel that resizing done through tv looks sharper...
*
r u sure? what lcd/plasma tv that u hv?
mine is sony 32V550A & component input can support hd format up to 1080p.

check this 1080p over component video standard proposed to the CEA

Astro also can change the centralised dish. Just urge your building management to change the dish.

Received call from Astro CS, no problem on smartcard activation system, apparently the Astro Installer did not carry out the right procedure contacting IVR (dunno what stand for) giving his Astro installer code, Astro beyond serial number and smartcard number. Gave him the Astro installer contact number, hope the problem and activation can be done soonest.
*
IVR = interactive voice respons, automated voice answering machine (press 1 to bla bla bla, pres 2 to ..., something like that)

Anyone tried it using Sony / Samsung 200MHz motion plus thingy?
*
interesting question. before i bought my lcd tv, i read quite a few review that motion plus thingy is not really useful. they suggest better to turn off this features. nearly rm1k different for motion plus thing features ohmy.gif
is it really usefull when watching football games in HD? as some of you said 720p is better than 1080i when watching football games.

Out of pure curiosity, what if the B.Yond smart card spoilt or became unreadable or may be in future they need to change a different type of smart card for better function or security or etc. Do we need to change the whole decoder since it is tied up with our B.Yond decoder?
*
I believe they will change the smart card in the future, just like they did before. No need to change the decoder, astro will update in their database.
I just hope we can use the decoder by the time recording function is available, just by updating firmware only.

Just got byond installed yesterday evening. thumbup.gif
Apply online: 4/1/10
T&C: 5/1/10
Installed: 13/1/10 (in 10 days ohmy.gif )
please include me in the list, location: kapar, klang

Signal level #1-201, #18-221 (good ah? hmm.gif )
Eventhough the decoder is quite small, but the remote is a bit long... normally when i hold the remote, i just use my thumb to press all the button in one step. I used to 'info/menu/left&right scroll/channel #/OK' button, but now i need more than 1 step to use all the button.
Still trying to get used for the new fuction. Seem like it doesn't have function like info-->press channel #, now i need to press ok, scroll left/right.

Btw, NG HD just awesome, but on History HD its have some footage not in HD. Will try to check ASSP HD when La Liga broadcast available, now all is NFL, so boring...

When I first switched to the HD Channels, a blank (black) screen appeared with the message 'Copy Protection Failed'. However I could listen to the sound. I called-up my Installer. He told me that there is something wrong with my HDMI cable and asked me to swap the cable. So I swapped with my Blue Ray player HDMI cable. Still no luck. I called up our good old Astro Customer Service and this time the gentleman on the other end of the line asked to switch off/on back my decoder (standard troubleshooting guide for customer). Obviously this did not work.
I also have this problem firstly, but after updated firmware to latest version, the problem solved.

Juz one question... does a long run of coaxial cable can affect the signal?

of course, as the byond using higher frequency, signal attennuation is significant compare to SD in long run cable

1. Try pressing the OK button instead of going to the tv guide. The disadvantage is that u can only see 1 channel at a time  blush.gif

Added on January 14, 2010, 8:56 pmoh yeah the OK button works as info function as well
*
I really miss the previous info function. When pressing OK in byond, you only can scroll left/right for other channel; when you press channel #, it will change the channel, not showing the info for the channel. Imagine when you're at Discovery 551, you need to check on ESPN channel, how many times you need to press right button shakehead.gif

The new info button just display current channel. If u want to see other channel by pressing OK, u need to scroll left/right, not but pressing channel # (just like old info function). Furthermore, it will disappear after 5s.

Anyone here using Sony LCD V series with byond?
I'm kinda fed up to set byond remote to control my tv volume.

When im using option 1, all sony 4-digit code cannot control my tv volume. But some of it can control av & power function.

Using option 2 until step 4, my tv turns off when pressing ch+ on the 3rd time. by then, it can control my tv volume but not av function (I don't mind, seldomly use it) but as soon as I press OK button (step 5), volume cannot control anymore. When i left it without pressing OK, the volume cannot control anymore after 20s.

Anyone here has the same problem? icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

ah geez I take it all back about the HDMI settings.
I had it perfectly set up before.
I could turn the power on the TV and Home Theatre with one button and it would automatically select the HDMI channel input.
Now it is going to the TV input and I have to change the input (with the astro remote) to hdmi ch.

All I know is this has nothing to do with the B.yond decoder and is TV an Home Theatre related, possibly needs a separate post about proper syncing of multi devices over HDMI
*
I dont thinks it's a problem with TV & HT related. It's a problem with byond remote control. If u switch on/off your tv using tv remote, its working well but when you use byond remote, tv will switch to tv input.

It will be better if ManC vs ManU Carling Cup in HD.
