HDMI goes directly to your TV. This is for Best Video quality.
For audio, get a Digital Coaxial cable and connect it from B.yond box to your AVR/Home theater system.
Most TV (Plasma/LCD/LED) do not really give one a true DD5.1 effect.
Mine is connected this way (so sad B.yond box do not have optical out) and connected to an Onkyo 7.1 AVR.
The HDMIs to AVR is only a 'pass thru' because true Audio for DD need to be 'processed' therefore be 'assigned'
at input at AVR.

With other equipment such as Playstation 3 (for Blu-Ray Discs), High Definition Media Player (TVIX) and now, Astro's B.yond,
most TV now have only 2 HDMI input. What I did for mine situation is to use the AVR's 3 HDMI input to 1 output to act like a
pass thru 'switcher'. Still got to assign each audio input to the AVR.
Hope that helps.
Awesome.

Did Byond disable DD 5.1 via HDMI? Else you should be able to get DD 5.1 via if you connect the HDMI to AVR then via AVR HDMI out to TV.

Added on January 20, 2010, 10:32 pmOh! I forgot.......switch off the TV's volume. There is a slight delay...thus have am 'echo' sounding effect.
Do enjoy your AVR's DD 5.1

HD Ready = 720p/1080i. Full HD=1080p. HD Ready more than enough if you're only going to use for b.yond. But if you're going to also use PS3/XBox360/HTPC/Blu-Ray player/HD Media player, 1080P is a better investment.
