QUOTE(LCP @ Jan 1 2010, 04:32 PM) Set to Just Scan, or whatever Panasonic's equivalent words that carry the same meaning... This mode will ensure a pixel-perfect mapping, so if it's 1080i, every pixel on the signal will map exactly to the same physical pixel on the screen, with no overscan, etc. Overscanning is a relic from the days of CRT TV where the actual edges of the picture is off the screen so that the screen can be fully filled. Actually, to have some overscan for OTA broadcasts is normally better. There is normally garbage at the last row of pixels that will show up in ur screen. If this is the case u might need the overscan.

QUOTE(bill.timmins @ Jan 14 2010, 01:59 PM) I've got a Philips which overscans. It does have a 'Native HDMI' option which does not overscan, but it automatically switches back to Overscan every time the picture loses sync - ie switch from HD to Sd - DUMB!!! re 1080i/720P everything now is 1080i but reading wikipedia they say that ESPN HD is 720p because ESPN insist that for the fast moving sports which they show, the interlace distortion is less acceptable than the loss of resolution. There is a normal video and audio out facility which downconverts the HD channels to leave horizontal black bars (useful for recording) BUT if you use the full Dolby 5.1 sound for your HDMI (which my installer did not switch on) you don't get audio on the analog outputs - DUMB!!! - again I have to say that golf looks really nice in HD :-) ESPN HD for Asia defers from ESPN HD in the states. ESPN Asia has exclusive rights to EPL from Sky, which transmits in 1080i.

QUOTE(neobita @ Jan 19 2010, 01:53 PM) just wanna share some info with u guys. Have you ever encounter this? In any channel, you can see some of of video timeline (just barely) on top of the screen and your top screen would also edges (instead of straight horizontal line) Well, I have and I have managed to solve this problem. It is done by selecting display type in your TV's setting. I got my setting to display "full pixel" at first and after I changed it to "Normal" the timer goes away and my top screen is not edgy anymore. Just thought that I'd share this info with you guys... regards.. This is typical for OTA broadcast. There is information that is used by the broadcasters normally in the last 1-2lines of pixels. What you have done is to introduce some overscan, for OTA shd be ok.

I did notice that the aspect ratio for some movies in HBO HD is sometimes not correct. For instance the movie Matilda yesterday was incorrect aspect ratio if u use dot by dot. Had to use one my zoom modes to correct the aspect ratio.
