I finally got my Byond installed this evening after waiting for 14 days and, not to mention, numerous calls to Astro Customer Service and Installer and giving them some tongue lashing 

When I first switched to the HD Channels, a blank (black) screen appeared with the message 'Copy Protection Failed'. However I could listen to the sound. I called-up my Installer. He told me that there is something wrong with my HDMI cable and asked me to swap the cable. So I swapped with my Blue Ray player HDMI cable. Still no luck. I called up our good old Astro Customer Service and this time the gentleman on the other end of the line asked to switch off/on back my decoder (standard troubleshooting guide for customer). Obviously this did not work.

Finally I tried my luck by changing the Satellite Settings to Measat 18. Lo and behold, my satellite signal jumped from 220 to 230+ and I could watch my HD channels  Does anybody have an explaination for this ? Seems the Astro guys do not know the root cause of the problem.

By the way, how does one pair the Astro remote with the LCD TV ? The instructions in the manual doesn't seem to work (or it could be my problem in understanding). I am using Sony KLV-40WE5.

I also do not understand how to add in the favourite channels.

Let me try again and read the manual betul-betul this time.

From what I was told by my Installer, to update the decoder software you need to do the following:

1) Switch off the decoder at the main power supply
2) Switch on back the decoder
3) Immediately after  the 'Boot' message appears on the decoder screen, press 'on/off' button followed by 'ch+' button and 'on/off' button again in quick succession
4) The decoder will reboot itself and the 'Auto Update' message should appear
5) If this does not work, it means that you already have the latest software version

Please try and let me know whether it works 

got my byond installed in just 5 days. One thing u should know about Astro CS. the moment you register the online form, the problem begins. First, i've fill up the online form as suggested on their website. 1 day after no calls from them. Then i call astro CS to confirmed my online application, they said that they don't received any application from me via the online form (maybe server mengong or the form went to heaven). So he ask me to apply via the phone directly. So i cont to make the application. 5-10 minutes after that, astro CS called me back but i didn't answer the call. then i let it be lah. A day after still no call from astro CS. then i called them back. they tell me that they has called me but i didn't answer. then he told me that the byond team will call me back later. so i wait again, the night approximately @ 7.00 PM, byond team called me to confirmed my application to install byond. telling me all the T&C thingy. the next day, installer called me to confirm the date of installation (2 day later on sunday). so now i'm one of the beyonders. huhu !

conclusion :

1) the web form may not has been successfully sent to astro.
2) If the byond confirmation team called u and no answer (within 24 hours of application), they will put your name back into the list and cont to call someone else. so make sure u r ready to answer their called anytime.
3) To make it a haste, just called astro directly to apply for byond. although this is not the method they would like us to do just tell them u has fill up the online form and no call from them (after 24 hours). huhuhuhuhu !

if thunderstorm, better switch off all the electronic component. there's no guarantee the surge protector able to 100% protect your electrical stuffs..
