How were the TVs connected on the old box? Did you use composite or S-Video for Plasma TV and RF for CRT TV like others here?
*
i believe it was composite to the plasma and RF to the CRT, yes. I don't really remember how the setup was.

Finally, I have successfully made a switch from default channel 1 to channel 18 !

There is no 'ok' button previously in CH 18, after i turn off and turn on the decoder, finally there is a 'ok' button at bottom left screen.

Then it's very simple. Use HDMI for Plasma, and get a Composite to RF modulator. Get a good quality modulator. Remember that you get what you pay for, so avoid the cheaper ones. Alternatively, if you're willing to remove/abandon the RF cable and pay a lot more for a marginal improvement in video and sound, you can also get a wireless composite video kit, which gives you a transmitter and receiver that works over 2.4GHz band. And I do mean a lot more, said transmitter costs RM200+ last I checked.

You love the DD5.1? What amp/avr ur using? Are you sure ur getting 'real' DD5.1 without 'echo' / leaking?
i'm suprised!
*
How about DD5.1 issue, is it ok with all of you? Mine still sucks, not even one movie (HBO HD so far) gave 'real' surround. Pro-logic II under SD movie channels gives better sound!
Astro called me yesterday to tell that their DD5.1 working very well with discreet sound blink.gif I tried to explain but i guess they dont know what i'm talking about hmm.gif
Its really hurts when your 'pasar malam DVD' produce such a perfect DD5.1 surround (i tried latest Harry Potter-what a surround sound) but
HD HBO still strugle with its DD5.1! icon_question.gif

#1, some members here pointed out that it's caused by old firmware. Maybe the installer didn't make it update for you (some people here kena, installer just plug in box, activate then leave. Some never activate at all, had to call Astro and complain). See if you can get the box to update by putting it on standby for a while. To be doubly sure, unplug box from power for a while, plug power back in, then don't touch it, let it show clock. Should automatically start update after a while.
#2, I don't think so. I stack a VGA box on top of my decoder and it's still quite cool. On the other hand, my box is somewhat "suspended in mid-air", underneath has nothing blocking the vents because just two steel support bars of the table is holding it up with the vents unobstructed.

Look like  Genting Highland, Cameron Highland will get the best reception, and Temerloh is at the centre core of satellite beam ?
*
I think they get better reception because they're on higher ground than us, even Temerloh.

Ehh if based on the same GPS satelite signal (Well GPS signal is much weaker), Those staying in mountainous region or dish blocked by highrises, That will mean trouble dy.. biggrin.gif Lotsa of inteferences from signal bouncing around the highrises & mountains.....Well that's on GPS signal-lah and those wth GPS will curse on the "lost satelite reception" prompt esp driving up Genting/ Camaron Highland or even in the middle of KL! biggrin.gif

You might want to turn off on the decoder as bro auranthas mentioned. Last night I changed back my setting to #1 setting ( just toying ard) and it wont change back after I pressed ok button. I hv to turn off the decoder and on it again. After that I got back to setting #1 but when I changed the channel the decoder just went dead. Panic a bit I switch off the main and on it again and its working. Tried again the other way ard and the same thing happened again. I guess if problems arised we should switch off and on the decoderagain and again.

Yes I did see the OK button on CH 18 at the left bottom screen after booting the decoder (turn off/on) go to setting/ installation setting/ key in the password/ satellite setting/ press ok/ you will see a list of channel , my default channel is 1, when i move to channel 18, press ok, i can see the satellite signal strength bar, satellite signal quality and there is an OK button on the left bottom.

just to get something clear, i too had to switch off my decoder before the ok button appeared in the satellite signal screen...you have to press that ok button for your entry point setting to change to #18 or anything else. If you press the back button, the box will revert to your previous entry point. After that you need to restart the decoder for your EPG to function. I did exactly that and everything is fine now. (i'm using entry point #18) I feel that the PQ of the SD channels have improved now. Placebo effect? Don't think so as my eyes and ears are quite sharp.

Previously i press ok on channel 18, i can only see the two bars (satellite signal strength and satellite signal quality), when press ok again, no movement, only key is 'back' key, it goes back to channel 1. After booting the decoder, finally i can see an 'OK' button/icon at the bottom left of every channels which previously not. Hope it's clear.

All the installer supposed know that they need to install everything new... My installer today no need for me to ask anything... He just take all the old item (dish, decoder and remote) and gave me new decoder, dish and cable.

May be you should talk back to CS...
