The unlocked is auto, 2-3 sec after selecting the channel.. no need to do anything..

What is ur software version? current one is 23 dec.
*
Yes, the software is the latest 23 Dec, but ch 18 and ch 1 (default) are locked. There are unlocked channels but signal strength is 0.

I think the terminology here is like fighter plane. Locked means can follow the signal, which is good. Unlocked means cannot follow the signal, which is bad. Not the other way around.

Haha, I am noob smile.gif Thx for clarification

Mine at CH 1 is 195 - 198, CH 18 is 222, but the default (with tick) is set at CH1, anyone how to move the tick to the other channel (eg. move from CH1 to CH 18) ?

Connected two set of AV cables to LCD TV

a) HDMI cable from B.yond to HDMI input at LCD
b) Component cable from B.yond to LCD

Tested both HDMI and component, IMO, watching SD with HDMI is on par or slight better than component, will keep component as option.

Wah those staying in Perak & Northern Klang Valley got the hisghest beam...

Look like Genting Highland, Cameron Highland will get the best reception, and Temerloh is at the centre core of satellite beam ?

Got a call from Astro tech dept, they clarified as long as the satellite signal is locked (CH 1 , CH 18), you are able to watc; I asked them what about the satellite signal strength value below the left bar, they told there should not be any value, did they know what my question? *sigh*

Finally, I have successfully made a switch from default channel 1 to channel 18 !

There is no 'ok' button previously in CH 18, after i turn off and turn on the decoder, finally there is a 'ok' button at bottom left screen.

bro,

Do you mean after entering into the signal strength page in CH 18, it supposed to have the "OK" button at the left bottom of the screen ? I tried many time but still see no button for me to choose the channel intended sad.gif
*
Yes I did see the OK button on CH 18 at the left bottom screen after booting the decoder (turn off/on) go to setting/ installation setting/ key in the password/ satellite setting/ press ok/ you will see a list of channel , my default channel is 1, when i move to channel 18, press ok, i can see the satellite signal strength bar, satellite signal quality and there is an OK button on the left bottom.

Added on January 7, 2010, 4:30 pmThere is no such button/icon. Just press OK till the page wth all the satelite numbers...
*
Previously i press ok on channel 18, i can only see the two bars (satellite signal strength and satellite signal quality), when press ok again, no movement, only key is 'back' key, it goes back to channel 1. After booting the decoder, finally i can see an 'OK' button/icon at the bottom left of every channels which previously not. Hope it's clear.

anybody here that didn't take anything away from the installer like me?
seem that sabah astro didn't take anything back from us...or it's just me...lol
and how to switch back to #1?...cuz at the 1st day i change to #18...seem cannot changed back already

and anybody know what's the use of the plug for at the back of the remote?
upside of the place where they put the battery?
*
They took my old decoder, remote and old smartcard.

As my earlier post, try to boot (turn off/on), go to satellite setting, see you can see an 'ok' button at channel 1, press ok, under the satellite signal strength page, there should be an 'ok' button, if not, repeat booting.

The plug at the back of the remote is for user to remapping /reprogramming , you need to buy the JP1 cable, the one on Astro B.yond remote seems with 6 pin, but other universal remote control such as, OneforAll, there is no pin, just 6 pin-contact on small piece PCB. For more on JP1, see the following link.

ya...mine also have a OK button from start
that's why can change to #18 but now seem cannot change back to #1
i can change actually but when i go back and re-enter...it's still back to #18
*
Do you see ok button at satellite signal strength page (#1) ? If yes, after pressing ok, there should be a tick on #1. If not, try to reboot your decoder again. It seems the Dec23 09 is unstable, sometimes it shows up , sometimes not.

Stimix, your eyes must synchronize with the jumping-jumping LOL

I have no problem watching HD both 1080i and 720p with my Sony KLV-40V300A via HDMI. As for SD channels, I changed the setting from pillar box (no vertical black bar on both sides) to stretch mode to fit into the entire screen.

Hi TVSPY & Spike2596,

So what's your advise? HD is in 16:9, SD is in 4:3 , are you suggesting to set two different setup/cables on my TV, i.e HD - via HDMI (16:9); SD - via component (4:3)?

Or should i just leave with the black vertical bars?

Why?

If you can use HDMI and Digital audio coax there is no need to even bother using component cables. Those calming the picture quality is better on SD are wrong and simply haven't set their TV's up correctly. The only difference I see is a slightly more saturated colour but no difference in actual picture quality.

by using component you will not get HD quality and you can only get 5.1 by using the digital audio coax. PLus now you have to change TV inputs to watch HD and SD channel. Do you really want to do that?

I think a lot of people have issues with their TV set up rather then the decoder. I know I spent quite a bit of time ensuring all my menu settings in my Sony TV and Home theater where set correctly before it worked properly for me.
*
Yeah, I concur with TVSPY's statement, as long as you configure your TV setting, aspect ratio correctly, I can watch both HD and SD via HDMI without difficulties, just the SD is at 4:3 with pillar box(actual picture size/quality); HD well fit into entire LCD wide TV screen at 16:9
