we do the football in 720p

720p is a sharper image then 1080i and is more suited to fast moving images.

it just a matter of knowing what to look for. My first gig in TV was a Presentation Op. that meant I sat down & controlled the broadcast output of channels. Rolling commercials switching feeds etc. It taught me how to monitor rather the just watch TV. but you're right it's anal to argue over 1080i 720p. They are both HD

watch that video linked above to learn how to see the difference

HD decoder will convert all channel content into final resolution in either 720p or 1080i depending on decoder setting, the HD decoder does not show info about the original channel resolution, so how do you know what to compare?

so stupid the astro decoder, how come cannot transmit DD5.1 over HDMI?

whereas for DVD player able to do so thru HDMI.

*
Agree.. transmit DD5.1 sound using HDMI is more better than coax.

I think below is best sequence fo audio cable

1- HDMI (very good)
2- Optical SP/DIF
3- Coax

Their have to provide RCA cable for user that used stereo.

It can decode DD 5.1 using Amp and HDMI cable. No problem for me so far installed almost 1 month.

My BD player, DVD player, astro and DVD recorder go in Amp first then only using 1 HDMI cable out to TV

ESPN HD:

Astro have said before this ESPN HD will be available in January 2010
We thoughit would be 1st January 2010. We were wrong..
Now the general belief is that the launch date would be the end of January 2010..30 or 31st
Now I dont know if this has anything to do with the launch but

ARSENAL Vs MANCHESTER UNITED
31st January 2010

This is on SkySports HD in the UK and on normal ESPN here
So maybe Astro want to make big impact for the ESPN HD launch

Does anybody know when ESPNEWS ASIA will launch on Astro?

The Astro technical person here mislead people saying Byond don't do DD 5.1 over HDMI. Any other Byond user can prove it wrong?

I did notice that the aspect ratio for some movies in HBO HD is sometimes not correct. For instance the movie Matilda yesterday was incorrect aspect ratio if u use dot by dot. Had to use one my zoom modes to correct the aspect ratio.

You have not set your amp up properly and are using a simulated surround sound effect from the amp which fakes surround sound even on a normal TV broadcast.
You are mistaking this sound effect for 5.1. We don't send 5.1 over the HDMI.
