30/12/09 first call
05/1/10 4th call as no confirmation from astro
06/1/10 verification from astro.
12/1/10 Installed using old ODU.
13/1/10 Change the ODU to new ODU.

Signal 190 using measat 1. I try to change to measet 18 got 220 but how to confirm.

Btw, the installer say need to change the ODU as future receiving migth not work if using old ODU.

The quality much better than my old astro decoder that using component cable.

Today change the external ODU 65. The cable maintain as it cannot be replace. Sudah tanam in the dinding. Signal 209 using #1.

I did recorded some movies via HDMI & Composite in the 2nd day after my  byond installed, both still looks good (SD quality lah), simply this rosak component out don't work. Astro Technician came also useless, he can't locate the problem and yet I found that he didn't submit my complaints back to astro office after I called Astro CS again last saturday.
*
wah... you can record from composite? which tv card that you're currently used to record it?
or maybe my tv card that got problems...??? shakehead.gif

Set up like this
Byond decoder HDMI to TV (HDMI 1 slot) and HDMI 2 out to HT plus digital audio from Byond to HT

You need to correctly sync your TV to the home theatre using braivia sync (Surprisingly this is a pain of a task and if you haven't done it you will need the manual of both the TV and HT to do it) then lastly ensure you programme the sony remote.

Sync the astro remote using the code 1825 or was it 1285? check the manual

Then sync the remote to control the audio by pressing ok and vol up. This time it will control the audio of the HT instead of the TV.

If you have set all menu functions correctly on the TV and HT your astro remote will now control

HT
power
mute
volumn

on the TV
power
input sellection

Byond
all functions

actually no problem with bravia sync between tv and ht..its just that if u turn on/off using tv remote, oni tv and ht will turn on/off but by using the astro remote u can control astro,tv and ht and by the way its 1825

I finally got my Byond installed this evening after waiting for 14 days and, not to mention, numerous calls to Astro Customer Service and Installer and giving them some tongue lashing mad.gif

When I first switched to the HD Channels, a blank (black) screen appeared with the message 'Copy Protection Failed'. However I could listen to the sound. I called-up my Installer. He told me that there is something wrong with my HDMI cable and asked me to swap the cable. So I swapped with my Blue Ray player HDMI cable. Still no luck. I called up our good old Astro Customer Service and this time the gentleman on the other end of the line asked to switch off/on back my decoder (standard troubleshooting guide for customer). Obviously this did not work.

Finally I tried my luck by changing the Satellite Settings to Measat 18. Lo and behold, my satellite signal jumped from 220 to 230+ and I could watch my HD channels rclxm9.gif Does anybody have an explaination for this ? Seems the Astro guys do not know the root cause of the problem.

By the way, how does one pair the Astro remote with the LCD TV ? The instructions in the manual doesn't seem to work (or it could be my problem in understanding). I am using Sony KLV-40WE5.

I also do not understand how to add in the favourite channels.

Thanks a bunch for the advices smile.gif

PS: Can't wait to watch in EPL in HD drool.gif

Heavy rain here. I noticed that Byond will disconnect when signal gets below 190. On a normal rain I can still watch the channel so guess I can say its much reliable than my old Astro.

Hi, just wondering how you guys confirm to #18? I got locked signal, but no button to confirm. Firmware Dec 2009, is it firmware related? Or ODU related. Thanks.

If you have a check sign on your entry point # 18, that mean entry point 18 was selected. If you want to change to point # 1, then highlight it and press 'OK' followed by 'YES' to confirm.

As long as you have a '√' mark beside the entry point, that mean that particular entry point was selected. Else power off and reboot as what tHeRiDdLeR say in previous post.

The easiest is to leave the Byond decoder on standby mode when you're not using it. Mine updated in that way. Else someone posted in pages back that you need to press certain button on decoder when you reboot it to force an update.
