Senderos was one of my favourite underdog. He doesn't have the fancy skills, nor the physical built. He just clears the ball and win the aerial header. I still remember his bleeding head and the bandag after that. Really a brave defender. I was dissapointed when he was loaned out to milan, but then I was hoping he will return someday to Arsenal again. So sad to hear he is dropping down the pecking order. Nice lad.

stokes = delap. biggrin.gif

Against them, a corner kick is always a better choice than a free throw. I can imagine coming into this match, AW will again reiterate his wish that free throws be replaced by free kicks. whistling.gif

WENGER IN CALL TO SCRAP THROW-INS
Arsène Wenger wants to nullify the ‘Rory Delap effect’ by scrapping the throw-in. The Arsenal manager believes that kick-ins should be the way to restart play when the ball goes out along the touchlines. Wenger, whose side conceded twice at Stoke last season from Delap’s 60-yard throws, says on the Arsenal website: ‘The rule I would change would be maybe to play throw-ins by foot. Why not? I think it would make he game quicker.’ He says the advantage gained by teams possessing long-throw specialists is unfair. ‘At Stoke, for Rory Delap it is like kicking the ball. It’s a little bit of an unfair advantage. He is using a strength that is usually not a strength in football.’ Wenger believes there is no reason why the change couldn’t work. ‘Football is the most popular team game in the world and one day some crazy guy said, “We don’t use the hands”.’ The kick-in experiment has been tried before. In 1993-94 the Diadora League (now the Ryman League) was authorised to use kick-ins but the trial was abandoned after one season when some teams simply used long-kick experts instead of long-throw specialists to bombard their opponents’ goal. In November 1996, Task Force 2000, a panel of football experts featuring Johan Cruyff and Franz Beckenbauer, considered the question and agreed that kick-ins would bring no benefit to the game.

haha! That's the arsene wenger I know...always quick with witty sarcasm. I bet some media will twist that statement and wedge a spark between SAF and AW again just for story sake.

Seriously, can't take that statement as it is.

I agree that Almunia didn't perform well of late, but I don't agree that he be released. Fabianski should take his position just to remind almunia of his place.

Last time when Diaby was injured, some fans take it as a blessing. These days, fans are worried...HEHEHEE.

I hope Diaby gets well too.

Surprisingly, no yellow card. Stokes really lap, lap until clean.

I'll be frank. I'm not so keen of winning the FA cup, but sad because its one less avenue for Arsenal youngsters to gain experience. Worse, the loss is demotivating for the whole team.
Tonight, back four was so terrible. Its acceptable for fabianski and traore, because they'll have a chance to learn their lesson, but what about sol campbell and silvestre? They're too old edy.
Anyway, its a bitter loss, but its even worse if the team don't learn anything from this match. Stokes truly deserve the win. Tonight, they outclassed Arsenal without needing to 'rough' us up.
Good nite guys, tomorrow is gonna be a bleak monday.

2nd half soon after the substitution, Silvestre sprained his ankle cutting off Delap. He was in need of substitution but can't anymore. So he just had to put up with the pain. You'll notice throughout the game he's limping. I pity him for that. He may not be the best defender, but he shows that everyone must carry the team forward. This match, Arsenal had it bad. If the results had been a draw, I'm sure the CBs won't get this much stick. Also, not not just single out the team, the poor performance came from all sides. Even capi made some horrible passes.
