sorry i am new to overclocking arena. just bought:

1- a phenom II x4 965 (said it was 3.4ghz, but properties showed 1.61ghz) what happen?
2- gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P
3- Corsair value ram 1333 2gbx2
4- corsair hx850w PSU
5- CM v8 replacing stock AMD HSF
6- Pair of xfx radeon HD5770
7- 2 wd green carviar 1tb HDDs

put inside HAF

i was wondering why i got 1.61ghz instead of 3.4ghz mentioned in the pricelist, receipt.

i wanted to oc but dunno where to start

please help me 

still capped at 1.61ghz.

yup... no point to raise up ur HTT... play with combination HTT x Multi..
and hit the ram freq as high as u can ..with good timing for sure able to get the better result

Many AMD users could mean that more n more people don't have fat wallets anymore : P
Besides, most that i can see especially gaming people prefer to buff out their GPU instead of CPU :l ol:

i honestly think clocking amd is far more challenging than intel. yesterday lepak at antonio's house see him tune the rams also i pening d.

i need sifu sifu here to help..i just got my MA790FXT, but i can max overclock it to 3.7 ghz only, with 1.425 vcore, above 3.7 will get BSOD where running stress test for few minutes..

do try out these settin. from what i remember, 790fxt doesn't like 1600 multi. ganged easier to pass prime too. 

don't worry much bout d vcore, u can decrease it once d sys is stable. 

if ya pair can do 1600 @ cas6, u'll rule 32m ddr3 compy ledi...

I believe that is normal if it's full load since you're running prime. If you think it's the hsf problem, try to reapply the TIM again. It makes some difference.

imo < 1.5v should be sufficient if load temp managed to keep under 50'c. from d sneak preview, w/ 1.46v iirc it managed to last 3x mins before reboot w/ load temp > 60'c... 

do i need a megaburgerhalem/shadow? but to spend > $100 for a heatsink is just plain crazy...
