Guys, for a typical 18*14*10 room, I'm using a Wharfy SW20 and find it "weak". Is the room too big for a 10" sub to handle?

Bro, as my whole setup is in my living room, I cannot put the sub freely as I want. It has to be in front next to the rack.
When I say "weak", I am trying to say that I can't feel the solid punch, but it has no problem to rattle my plaster ceiling. It goes low and I can feel the rumble on my sofa although it is like 14 feet away (Audyssey measured a distance of 4.83 meters), just don't have that hit in the chest. Could this be a characteristic of a sealed enclosure? My previous sub was a ported 10" back in my apartment and of course a smaller room. |

Thanks bro. Let me swap the subs and test again...
Anyways, both my subs are 10" but 150w for ported and 250w for sealed. Peasant power rating... |

Tats de major disadvantage in visiting a 'higher end' system - there is always de comparing.. I guess if u can afford it.. go for it.. Resistance is futile - d force is strong in tis one For those who cant .. better stay away.. D |

Why don't U just go to cinema and ask to talk to the manager... ask them what sub they use? Solve your problem (and our problems as well).

Bro Anfieldude, yes I agree if I walk around the room to find the optimum place to put it, the presence is indeed felt. But the thing is I have a 2 1/2 year old toddler running around all the time so I need my place to be safe as well. So only place I can put it is in the front together with the rest of the gear.
Hence, the need for a bigger sub. |

SW250 was purchased late last year but only opened up and used mid last month when I moved into the new pad. Kiasu so sapu first
Frankly I am also not sure how much I bought mine and how much a new one is selling for now. Let me check and get back to U, but I would expect to sell it around 80% the price of a new one. Condition is perfect. |

QUOTE(cslee007 @ Jun 10 2010, 10:07 AM) Which is better? Bro, cannot compare 12" to 10", of course 12" will have more slam and since Velo is ported it is more efficient. But SW250 is more musical and accurate I would say.Velodyne CHT12-R or Wharfy SW250? Will other brands of subwoofer unable to match with my current Jamo S606? Added on June 10, 2010, 11:33 amAny comment on Jamo or Yamaha subwoofer? And of course, CHT12-R is more expensive than SW250. Just my 2 sen, wait for subwoofer taikors to comment. Dunno bout Jamo sub, but Yammy sub more suitable as footstool. This post has been edited by chewkl: Jun 10 2010, 02:15 PM |
