QUOTE(shuto1 @ Feb 7 2011, 09:44 PM) Does anyone have any experience with the Wilson Benesch Torus? My brother is considering one. The Torus is a rare animal. Doubt anybody here has much experience with it.http://wilson-benesch.com/2010/06/torus/ I still don't quite understand how it works, but looking at the specs it might be more suited to music than HT. The max output is 100dB at 1m (not specified which freq), which will probably not be enough for movies. Anyway a thread for you to read: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread....highlight=torus This review has some curves: http://www.wilson-benesch.com/stereoplaytorus.pdf |

QUOTE(shuto1 @ Feb 8 2011, 08:03 PM) I suggested to my brother the JL F113s though, but he wanted something 'pretty' to match his decor. The box subwoofers look a bit too conventional for his setting. Your brother must have a very nice designer decor. If he doesn't want the conventional box subs that limits the choices considerably... |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Apr 1 2011, 03:20 PM) I saw this excellent chart that shows the various instruments and their frequency ranges. This helps to re-iterate why music does not have much below 20Hz. But movies are mixed differently and there is a lot of effects that have content down low. I initially saw this in the AVS Forum, the link takes u to the original source. Click also on the "Ear Sensitivity" chart to see how our ear perceives the frequencies. Due to low sensitivity to bass, bass needs to play louder in order to be perceived on similar/equal loudness to the mid and higher freq.Frequency Range of Various Musical Instruments |

QUOTE(ronaldjoe @ May 24 2011, 07:49 PM) Is there a in room FR chart for sub2? I am interested to know as well. Haven't any owners posted an in room FR in the AVS threads? Most that I can see from AVS are PBK'ed and ARC'ed. I am searching for the graph for sub 25 as well. But no doubt an in room FR will show much deeper extension compared to an outside ground plane measurement. |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Jun 14 2011, 12:54 AM) Congrats for your hard work. So far the best lfe I've heard in terms of earthshaking bass.. Still haven't got a chance to hear taukeh jchong dual pb13u yet.. And bro ronaldjoe also contemplating dual monster sub! It's all in the room and setup. Great that htkaki has the options for space behind and in front. Some of his suggestions I cannot try since I don't have enough space at the back of the couch. Also, he's got the time and experience in how to optimize his setup. |

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Jul 10 2011, 09:35 AM) hi all, Firstly you should know that every sub has its limits. Even those expensive ones have limits, although their limits are generally higher than smaller/cheaper subs. Please don't think that your sub (or any sub) is indestructible. want to ask is it normal for svs pb12-nsd to bottom out for playing some of the movie like iron man 2? at 1 scene when the guy smash tony stack f1 racing the pb12-nsd bottom out with a pop sound and so is there a fix or my svs subwoofer having issue? thanks Anyway, how loud were you playing the movie? What is your sub trim in the AVR? How about the volume knob in the sub? Was Audyssey on or off? How large is your room? |

Try turning off Audyssey, then replay that Iron Man 2 scene. See got bottom out or not. Keep everything else the same.

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Jul 12 2011, 10:24 AM) You're welcome. Actually some sub owners have reported this issue in AVS and very frequently by turning off Audyssey it solves the problem.I believe it's because Audyssey can apply a lot of boost in the lower octaves (like maybe below 20-30Hz) and this can in some cases overdrive your subs. I believe with careful positioning and taking advantage of room gain, you can overcome this and have Audyssey on without causing your sub to bottom out. |

QUOTE(Mickey C @ Jul 18 2011, 04:39 PM) I am using Infinity 12" sub woofer. What my natural sub woofer sound mean is simply natural, not too much powerfully. If I put high volume on my sub, the sound look very bad, almost want to break my woofer speaker. If I didn't put high volume on my sub everything seem ok for me. Explosion, current wave in the movie Blue Crush 2 is awesome, I can feel the current wave sound in my sub woofer is working pretty good...... This means you're overdriving your sub. If the sound is very bad, that is probably distortion you're hearing since you turned up the volume high.If you like your bass louder and played without distortion then you need a more powerful sub. |
