some news related to games for PS3 and Xbox360: QUOTE Edge magazine reported that Electronic Arts currently has more PlayStation 3 titles in development than Xbox 360. The company currently has 20 titles planned for Xbox 360, but the number for PS3 is higher, exact number is unavailable. QUOTE Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi mentioned that Devil May Cry 4 is not a PS3 exclusive title, the game maybe ported over to Xbox 360 and Revolution in future. In the game Dante can access more maneuvers, while the control will be further simplified, the play mechanism will be like DMC3. DMC4 on xbox360? i'm sure lots of ppl will be happy to hear this...

QUOTE(mzaidi @ Sep 4 2006, 10:45 AM) This is just stupid because they're charging you extra RM 200 - RM 300 for something you can do yourself at home. I won't go for flashed Xbox 360 because: 1) No Xbox Live, and if you think Xbox Live is just about online multiplayer games, you're wrong. They also have Xbox Live Marketplace (download games content, game demo, trailer, XBLA games), friend list, voice chat, game updates, and more. 2) Some game requires you to update your system to play. If you don't update your system, the game won't boot. What if one day Microsoft includes an update that disables your flashed drive? You won't play that game? 3) Almost the same as reason number 2. Microsoft will release system update via Xbox Live. What if one day they include an update that disables your flashed drive? AFAIK, currently u can still play on live and dload updates and use the marketplace even with a flashed Xbox360. Of course in the future, i'm sure MS will release an update that would block any flashed fw users from logging into live.

QUOTE(Matrix @ Sep 4 2006, 08:45 AM) Another reason why PS3 will suck: http://www.firingsquad.com/news/newsarticl...?searchid=12067Looks like people who only have component input will not be able to play the games in Hi-res!! WTF. Even XBOX can do HDTV via component input, there's no reason the PS3 can't. Another way of SONY of screwing their longtime fans. Thank you SONY. GoodBye SONY. Erm, which part of that article that u can't seem to understand? It just mentioned that the HDMI cables are not included with the package. It never mention about the PS3 not able to display games in Hi-res with component input.

QUOTE(Matrix @ Sep 4 2006, 01:16 PM) According to FiringSquad: /// The already expensive $599 Playstation 3 will be even more expensive if you want to experience true HDTV resolutions in your games and movies. The official Playstation 3 web site in its FAQ section confirms that displaying movies in 1080p resolution will require a TV with an HDMI output and cable. Unfortuately you will have to buy that cable separately since the PS3 will not come with one. /// My browser wasn't working in the PS3 Site just now. And here is what it says: /// Video output in HD requires cables and an HD-compatible display, both sold separately. Copy-protected Blu-ray video discs can only output at 1080p using an HDMI cable connected to a device that is compatible with the HDCP standard. HDMI cable not included. Additional equipment may be required to use the HDMI connector. /// Looks like kena tipu by firingsquad. Still, using Blue-Ray movies at 1080p requires HDMI cable. Still, it's Goodbye SONY and Hello Nintendo for me. Still the question remains. Do you own a 1080p capable HDTV? If not, then it won't even matter.

QUOTE(Lord_Ashe @ Sep 5 2006, 05:24 PM) Perhaps it's because the Wavebird was an N64 controller and rumble wasn't really a big deal back then? I dunno - but I guess these days a lot of people take it for granted that rumble comes with your console. Still, I suppose games WILL be playable for the most part...until we hit Gran Turismo and you can't tell if your tires are slipping or not on the tarmac. Worse if it's Colin Mc Rae. For that games, it would definitely be a big disadvantage. Although most hardcore racing gamers should opt a force feedback steering wheel instead, the lack of rumble feature would still affect the majority of gamers out there. QUOTE(daidzz @ Nov 7 2006, 10:43 AM) I was initially a sony boy. now i can easily say the 360 over-powers the PS3 by alot. i mean A LOT . haha the funny part is the double RAM factor. Dude, Xbox360 is using a unified ram, so the 512Mb is shared among the system and for graphics. While for PS3 it's dedicated 256Mb for system and 256Mb for the graphics.

QUOTE(ikanayam @ Jan 20 2007, 07:10 PM) Whatever bloats your collective goats i guess. lol. I'm not saying ALL developers do take advantage of it, i'm stating a fact here about the 360 GPU "free" AA capability which the PS3 GPU doesn't have, which is why you'll probably see more jaggies on the PS3 than on the 360, because most developers will probably take (or have already taken) advantage of a feature like that. It doesn't require much effort on their part as far as i can tell. It all sounds great in theory, but the fact remains that PGR3 runs at a lower res and no-AA. So where is this 'free' AA that you claim to be? Seriously, it's pointless to argue just about tech specs when the core of the fun came from the game itself. Most ppl don't just drool about tech specs, it's the games. That's the main reason most ppl bought their console in the first place. GAMES... NOT TECH SPECS. So i do agree with cylon's point, base your own judgement with your hands-on experience please. Not just by something u read off the net.

QUOTE(ikanayam @ Jan 20 2007, 11:48 PM) I didn't say ALL games use it, and i certainly didn't say PGR3 uses it. Don't try to put pointless words in my mouth because you had too many to fit in your own. So in the end i'll reply with your own words then. Whatever bloats your collective goats i guess. lol.

Fact? Here's a fact for ya: Most console gamers don't give a damn about technical specs, what they care most is the games itself. You'd say Xbox360 has a better GPU, which everyone knows early on. But really, so what? The PS3 may have a weaker GPU, but it's not like the difference is that obvious like comparing the Xbox to the PS2. Not everyone is that geeky till they'd say something like, " OMG, my console can't do FP16 HDR + antialiasing. This suX0rs!!". People buy consoles to play games, not to drool at tech specs. End of story.

QUOTE(empire23 @ Jan 21 2007, 01:15 AM) In the GPU geez, and the point was graphics, and the arguement point is graphics. The XB360 gets free AA due to it's massive on substrate EDRAM, which means that the performance hit from implementing AA is nil. It's as simple as that. There was no other topic than the jaggies, so don't go stuffing points where they don't need to go. Like i said earlier: PGR3 runs at a lower res and no-AA. If AA is free and easily implemented, why isn't it in PGR3? Some other games on Xbox360 has its fair share of jaggies as well.

QUOTE(empire23 @ Jan 21 2007, 01:08 PM) No performance hit doesn't mean 0 work dear. You still have to sit down and implement the feature. Like ikanayam mentioned earlier, PGR3 does indeed has 4X AA @ 480p which was added later after the game was launched through online update. But no AA at 720p which should be the norm? Surely there could be some performance trade-off here. If AA is indeed 'free' on Xbox360 then shouldn't it had AA on 720p as well? This post has been edited by redbull_y2k: Jan 21 2007, 02:55 PM
