been so long since i visited.. question to the sifus..

I have a picture which was posted up online in a Facebook group pictures.. and it was published by The Edge.. Ok la i mean im supposed to be proud because it is kinda like my 1st picture being published.. but.. when they published the picture, i wasnt informed of it.. I mean, do they actually have the right to publish the picture without finding who it belongs to?

I do have the original file and stuff.. but is this legal?

kk ill read the T&C, but in the mean time.. if it is protected, how to bring this up to the malaysian law? u know how malaysian law can be..
Its u know.. the feeling of people "stealing" the pictures.. i actually dont mind them using it.. but must credit to who la.. the page also never say picture taken by who also..

Edit: i scanned through the T&C, it just stated that FB wont share your information whether if its pics or ur info with other people. But, it also doesnt state that 3rd party advertisers can use the pics.. Damn, i should have watermarked it..

eh to all u photogs, watermark ur pics.. I didnt think my pic could get stolen, because to me, it was not a very good picture, so i didnt water mark it.. Its not a nice feeling that a picture that you took, got stolen and was published on a magazine without your consent. What more a local company. sien..

clive bought the tammy with the back focus problem.. long story cut short.. it was the a700 itself which had the focus problem.. so after tweaking the a700 (he tweaked it himself!! DIY man!!) the tammy didnt have much problem after that.. but, u let clive go into the details la =P .. it was posted somewhere in the previous threads lol.. very long post about how he tweaked the a700 if i recall..

i actually liked ur compo for shot 1.. but if the colors were more vivid, "eye popping" wa.. syokk..

2,3,4 = niceee... i personally like #2 ..

I take pics for fun, I never intended to sell the pic, but since they already used it, how much do u think can charge them? noob la in these things.. never actually step into getting paid for photos yet.. so im like blur.. what are the procedures involved?

Bro, i took pics with matches before... read this off somewhere, but dunno where..

take something that can stand on ur table, e.g lamp, air freshener (those spray types),

tie a rubber band to it attached with a clothes pin.. that one will use to hold ur matches..

so basically, u already have something to hold your match for you so you can have a better shot at it.. use another match or lighter to burn the one that is being held, and happy shooting =)


and regarding my case, i emailed The Edge already, asking for explanation how can it be used without my consent, the editor replied back. Mana tau, the editor is someone i know. See i have been joining this bootcamp thing, like "fitness on the field", the editor happen to be in my session. She explained to me that it was a mistake putting my pics up because her graphic guys kinda messed it up. took the wrong picture from wrong sources, and it went to print. She apologized for it la. Nothing after that, no compensation or any note up to the public saying that that pic is mine.. so basically, im in the dark.

I cant tell them to remove it, because it is already in print, its hard for me to send them an invoice, because like mutual understanding in the field, we workout like a platoon, like family wise kinda thing.. the workout sessions get very "brother/sister" (whatever word suits it la).. im in a difficult position, and i was thinking of letting this slide, but based on what you guys think, is it a wise choice? Say, to sacrifice a friendship over something like this, and kinda let RM300? fly?, i mean what do you guys think you would do in a situation like this?

moo: like that wont it tarnish my image? lol.. i could use RM300 to get me a better camera bag tho, but i keep thinking if i do that my image gone..

finejava: Ya i was about to comment on ur zeiss! not to say ur lens not happening.. LOL.. not cheap lehh hahah.. moo's zeiss already tempted me, but the pricing of it cut throat!.. few more years down the road, ill definitely upgrade the lenses to CZ.. $$ come in 1stt..

ya la, true also.. but how much can i charge? RM300 for the pic.. well i need money.. lol.. but come to think of it, if she was on another bootcamp session, i think i would charge them. But since i practically known her for 3 months, future business is better i think.. too bad lor.. my loss for now.. no kata 467 for me.. darn!
eh come la.. im in PJ Astaka the 7am session.. they actually have this bring a friend day which falls on every 3rd week on a Saturday to let friend's try out the program, this month's bring a friend falls on the 22nd.. come try it out! lol its a very fun work out..
