QUOTE(hkhk @ Jan 10 2010, 05:01 PM)
Don u notice that when your SONY AF lens attached to the camera body, it's at the wide open aperture (yes the widest). Until the moment you press the shutter. then the Aperture contract to the desired aperture and snap.. So that why when u use F22, there is no effect on your viewfinder, unless u press the DOF preview button. Goto to shop, grap a A700 and above and try out the DOF button n you will see smile.gif

If u have a manual lens then u try to focus at F22, sure ur camera cry. How to AF when everything have a very same contrast?

edit: I should say how to AF at F22, when the scene is dark and the DOF is very deep...
But then that's not the issue, when the subject is in focus, then it's considered Focus.
*
even MF lens u oso use the large aperture to do ur focus then only turn to the desire aperture n shoot.... u can't focus using F22 bcoz it's just too dark for u to see whether subject is sharp.....

just like the DOF button.... MF lenses wen u turn the aperture ring u'll c the light & bokeh & DOF change immediately..... not like AF lens u can only c it wen preview ur photo smile.gif

cjlai,
so every non A mount lens would need to be modded with the "AF chip" due to this "cripple A mode in Sony Alpha" ?
How much would the modification be? What does this chip look like?
*
u sh say all non chip lens need the AF chip in order to user the P A S mode.... w/o the chip u can only use M mode in most of the body.....

the chip alone oredi cost around RM60....

it sh look something like this... but this piece is not for sony biggrin.gif

Q : I see some dust particles inside my beercan by turning the aperture wide open. But it doesn't affect the photos taken, at least by my eyes.

Is it difficult to remove it by myself ?

How much will it cost me if I send it in for service ? Any risks of getting this lens caput if I DIY ?

Thanks :-)
*
if not affecting ur photo just ignore it.... else just send for cleaning... will cost RM80-100 i think....

not recommend to DIY since the steps is too complicated.... not like 50mm.... beercan is not easy to open....

if u still insists to try then u may refer to the link below

macro lens is sharp in nature..i don think the brighter aperture would helps to soften the shot(or it makes any significant diff)..it might makes the DoF shallower..but it's stil a lil bit too sharp for portrait purposes..
*
F2 @ 60mm actually has more DOF than F2.8 @ 90mm
