The rule of thumb that I follow is for bunnies, let them have as much as they want to eat. then for adults, limit it to 3/4 cup per day. hay is also unlimited for bunnies and adults.

what i mean is there is no right or wrong..it's just recommendation ...yes like fyire said..baby rabbits can feed unlimited..adult rabbits i give 1/3 cups...coz the main food is hay..hay should be fed unlimited amount...pellets just to fill up if they are still hungry

No offense but I am just curious. I understand that you have bought a few bunnies from various breeders. Did they not advice you about the basic diet needs or rabbit? It is amazing how they just sell without teaching and now you have to come here to ask these questions. Again, please refer to 1st posting for all the information.

Rabbit thread keep moving...binky binky!!!
what shall we discuss about..hmmm..

do u guys enter your bunny for beauty competitions...??
i think malaysia dont have official one right since so many rabbits are mix breeds here..

last time i saw a cat competition they have to leave the cat there for long hours..i feel it's causing stress to the animal..and some i see just go around places even countries to join competitions..like one day here and next day zoom to other country..thats for cats la rabbit i dunno anyone joining competitions in malaysia..just wanna ask your oppinions..sometimes i wonder how the pets life are..ment for beauty only?no house pet life?

yes i agree with you, basically the breeders didnt advice me on diet,i learnt many things from here.,earlier i fed one cup of hay and a cup of pellets(oxbow) ,whn i ranout of pellets i jus sticked to the hay alone by giving only a cup a day,all of a sudden i noticed it had become skinny,i thought something wrong and i took it to vet clinic,UPM,serdang,it seems thy had never came acrossed a sick rabbit, and they blinked like an idiot !!!.thy jus took a blood sample to determine the sickness, later whn i actively took part in this thread,i got an idea tht unlimited hay will do !!!,thn once again i changed to pellets + hay after clearing the doubt, but this time i noticed my bunny stuffed only pellets and didnt cared for hay ???? once again im to square one, thts why i asked for measurement. doh.gif

be careful not to have choosen guinea pig's pellet for rabbit, they are not the same. the former contains nut, and it's high in protein and carb, rabbit can't take these..

For me in this hobby it is all about enjoying the companionship of your pets and to learn how to take care of another living being. Also, in this hobby for me is to share and come to know people of the same interest.

when it comes to show, I believe there must be a balance. The sole reason for shows/competitions is to have an appreciation for these pets. The balance gets tip over when breeders start to show for the wrong reasons. One of the major wrong reasons in my opinion is that having the thinking of getting A NAME by winning so that they can sell their stock at high prices. We have to constantly remind ourselves that it is appreciation of the beauty of the rabbits not in the money that they can rake in.

Promoting ones rabbits with trophies is outright exploiting. Trophies does not mean anything if there is no appreciation. Anyone for the matter can make a 5 feet tall trophy, pose his/her rabbit next to it and sell the babies at high prices.

In short, don't look at the trophies but the rabbit itself. Rabbit that wins a lot of trophies not necessarily produces trophy winners.

For me, pets come first, show second. Also, shows are another venue for me to catch up and meet up with friends of the same interest.

I personally think it is good to let them get used to the noises because if it is too quite, the slightest noise will cause them to freak out. sometimes when they freak out, they will bang themselves to the cage wall and drop dead.

I hope no bunnies die from this during CNY when there is a lot of fire crackers going on.

i think it's ok to put outside as long as it is shealtered from rain and shine..my ipoh rabbit is outside with the dogs and they bark really loud as they are alert dogs..he's ok with them and the noise..i think it's the matter of getting used to the noise...not too loud like fire cracker also la..

i think tat's the brand my bunny ate before i change to pro optimum... bought from local petshop they repackage it to small packaging and looks real cheap to me so i just grab...then nightmare happened...dunno izit coz i nv groom often or the food quality...but she got indigestion and stomach stop functioning..didn't poo didn't eat for 4 days..then i ask sangterap for help and he guide me through those though times...he online evryday and thought me what to do..thanks so much bro!..

so to be safe than sorry..stressed out many times already...the recommended cheaper option is Hagen pellets..don't do the same mistake i do...not everyone is as lucky as me as i was able to safe my bunny

hi, i've been using bengy since day 1 of getting my rabbits, no adverse situations encountered before... smile.gif

for pellets, i'm using "Super Premium Mix", also with no side effects....healthy sized poop, and lots of em too

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between Teddy Bear Rabbit and Jessey Woolly? I saw people selling this Teddy Bear breed so expensive and claimed it is new and hot breed.

Btw, I have one bunny adopted from a petshop (petshop's customer give up his/her bunny). Not sure what breed, but quite nice and tame rabbit. Now looking for a soulmate for her. If I put 2 female together, do you think they will fight? If I put a junior female in, the chances of fight is less, right?

I have another question (sorry that I am quite clueless about rabbit), what do you call the color like those Himalayan cat type of color marking rabbit? I wish to have one like this but must be fluffy long fur.
