they love sniffing for familiar places then only run around.
they love to bite newspaper.
they love to hide behind curtains, holes, couch, under table....normal rabbit thinking i guess since they kenot dig holes in the house.

Rabbits are naturally very scared of any sudden and loud noises la...

So to prevent your rabbits to freak out and simply dig/climb/escape to safety, provide him/her with a small hiding place inside the playpen. A cardboard box, a plastic igloo or anything that it can hide inside is enough. So at least they feel a bit safer and won't freak out so much. smile.gif

great suggestion!

unfortunately for me, my little guy thinks anything elevated = potty = must pee sad.gif

imagine the cleaning i end up doing twice a day shocking.gif

but it is my own fault actually, i know i should neuter him so he stops this naughty habit but i simply cant bring myself to do it cry.gif

and he certainly knows its wrong cos everytime he wants something from me, i hops to his actual potty, does his business there and gives me an innocent look just to show he has been a good boy whistling.gif

my rabbit eats and healthy...she learn quick... last week, whenever i put her into playpan (quite big), it try to squueze her body out of the iron bar...she manage 2 or 3 times..as results,i use my finger and slap the face (hard to describe) hard.i wan to beat/punish her so that she remember by escape out, means get beat up.ytd, she no longer do tat.she hop n run in the playpan.anybody punish their rabbit for disobey/naughty? to me,rabbit is like dog.must be train and beat if neccessary.

to quote the house rabbit society:

"Use only positive reinforcement (treats and praise)--never punishment."

please dont beat your rabbit, remember they are prey animals. not that i'm saying u should beat your dog or cat- but rabbits are extra sensitive. i usually just change the tone of my voice and my boy knows he is doing something wrong. i know a friend who has a little water spray and sprays his rabbit's butt to deter him from being naughty.

there are better ways to train your rabbit than beating-check out:

Cause of availability? Not easy to get original one, cause most of them need to be imported or carefully breed by breeders.

Even mixed breed dogs/cats/guinea pigs are all much more cheaper then pure, original breed one.

Yeah please dont beat them.

I know its right to beat children/cats/dogs when they not behave properly, but rabbits are entirely different case. Rabbits are prey animals...means in the cycle of life, they get eaten up by other animals. Thats why they have breed a lot and have numbers to sustain themselves in the world...

Rabbits are very prone to fear of anything such as scary sounds, quick moving shadows and insecurity of a new place. The more you beat your rabbit, the more it will deep fear you and eventually she may not sleep well or eat well too. Rabbits are VERY known to be emotional because of their gentle nature and scaredy nature, I've seen it in mine too many times already blink.gif

So in short, don't use physical way to teach. Raise voice a bit or pushing them away is ok. Just don't make them hurt, even if you feel it's just a minor pain.

Try petfinder, sometimes they have rabbits for adoption. Age shouldn't matter that much, check the rabbit's personality. A curious rabbit is a good sign. Only get rabbits above two months old and a healthy rabbit has round hard poops- check for that. On rabbit care, check out the first page of this forum, it has very useful infomation.

Rabbits are wonderful pets to have but they do take some time to bond with. But once they bond, they are extremely loving and constantly amusing.

Good luck in looking for your rabbit and do post photos of him/her later. We are cuteness addicts here rclxm9.gif

smile.gif thanks alot for all your help smile.gif you forum-ers are Awshum!!!! biggrin.gifD i prefer asking for advice from forums and pet lovers actually. Cause im afriad salespeople would just try to sell off the pet w/o giving much tips while doctors might give slightly wrong advice so that they get more customers doh.gif

Added on July 28, 2010, 10:07 pmbiggrin.gif i went to two pet stores today one seems nice and air conditioned so i asked the salesperson if its okay to let the rabbits live in an aircond room as i plan to keep them in my room (at 24degrees? kinda big room i guess can fit 4 king size bed gua @.@) she says its okay as long as dun suddenly hot suddenly cold o.o can help me confirm this ma? .___.

the other shop i went to, felt kinda bad for the rabbits, the display area for rabbits is next to and facing the arcade. the rabbits there look.. wierd.. no response when look at them etc >_>

b4 i bring back my 2 month rabbit.i ask midvalley petshop staff wat food they feed?they said timothy hay...according to page 1 n other rabbit site, 6 month below is alfafa, 6 month above is timothy..

to play safe, i gave my rabbit timothy, alfafa and pellet.all is bought from the shop.rabbit find it "home" if the food u gave them is from the shop where they ate b4...to cut long story short, my rabbit prefer eat timothy than alfafa.and she love pellet..

but ho... rabbit got eating time habit... they eat at certain time..maybe the time u see them eat....is not the time......it is a mistake u give them carrot..normally ppl give when it reach adult...don think she can digest properly....according to expert, it is not wise to give rabbit carrot...even we know bugs bunny eat carrot..but in reality...better give them pellet or hay...

It is very safe to just feed Timothy Hay be it below or above 6 months. Most pellets in the market are made up of alfalfa hay anyway. So timothy hay will help a lot in providing fiber.
